You see, crazy, that's where you're mistaken. I've said, repeatedly, that I'm not anti-reading(you can make your own judgements, and I'm sure you already have about anti-intellectual and anti-knowledge). I've said, again repeatedly, that the TV news provides a quick, in the background, overview of the news. If a topic interests you, and you'd like to know more, there's this thing called the internet where you can research the topic to your heart's desire.
Honestly, our "conflict" stems from the smug attitude of those who say "TV news is the pits. I'd never watch TV news" because it makes them feel superior. I don't have to read French papers to feel superior. Nor do I have to announce I read French newspapers in order to feel superior. I may, in fact, read French newspapers all day long.
