What is the proper role of government in the US? Topic

IOW, when you go on vacation, your boss finds out how much you really do.

The down economy taught management that there were a lot of people doing a lot of nothing.

The 9-10% unemployment rate we've got now has been building for a decade. We saw declining job creation growth rates every single year Bush was in office, and it's gotten worse since the subprime derivatives crash.

From a policy perspective the federal government should have exactly two priorities right now:

1) Getting the private sector to start hiring again
2) Creating short- and medium-term jobs themselves until such time as the private sector gets their heads out of their *****

Anybody who stands in the way of those goals - say, for instance, a group in Congress whose only priority seems to be slashing government spending no matter what impact it has - does not have the country's best interests in mind.
You will always find some way to spin the numbers.

Unemployment was fine until 2008. The natural dip after the big surge just didnt go back up.

This is what everything shows. It was fine until the Dems took congress in 2007. That statrted a situation. Then when Obama was elected with all his promises and things kep getting worse and the failed stimulus and the Huge Obamacare bill led business to retreat.

Give business a reason to surge and it will.

Don't want to talk about Bush's job creation record any more, hmm? Can't say I blame you.

Again people we employed and doing well. You can always find a way to make anything look bad if you juggle the numbers enough.

This is almost 3 years for Obama. First it was Bush's fault, then the Republican Senate. Now the Tea Party.

If Obama cant get anything done why are we keeping him around. Almost anyone can fail and make excuses!

I didn't juggle anything, moron. You said job creation was just fine until 2008. I proved you a liar.
9/3/2011 1:28 AM
Actually I think you were the one that introduced the narrow scope of "Job Creation".

The people on Main street know when things are going well.

Another lie. The post is right there for everyone to see, if they want to.
9/3/2011 9:05 AM
You introduced job creation as a seperate topic that defined the issue.

When I said job creation was fine I meant that people were working and the economy was expanding. No one cared about some made up stat.
9/3/2011 8:15 PM
No, I didn't. I just called you out on yet another example of your ignorant, dishonest bullshit.
9/3/2011 8:32 PM
How can it be both ignorant and dishonest? Are they not mutually exclusive?

So since we seem to have another one of our classin misunderstandings lets go back to the beggining.

My point was that the economy was great up through 2007. No one saw a problem with job creation or growth. People were happy.

Now that the economy has collapsed and Obama cant fix it, the Left has to go back and say that everything was falling apart when Bush was still in office.

That little thing where the housing bubble burst and the banks needed bailing out was a good thing then?
Or was that Clinton's fault?

It wasnt Clinton's fault or Obama's fault or Bush's fault.

A free economy can have bubbles. We can argue about which side of the aisle made this worse, but that isnt the point.

The crash was a normal part of a free economy.

Obama is hurting the normal recovery!

More lies. The fact that your masters belittled those who pointed out Bush's ****** job creation record while he was still in office doesn't mean "no one saw a problem."

You are incapable of debating politics without repeating the lies you've been fed, swamp. That's how you can manage to be both dishonest and ignorant.

I think you just have so much hate for someone who has the political views I have that you just need to line up the insults.

I am sure you can find articles now that say the economy is doing better than it looks. Everyone knows things are bad. The same in 2006. Everyone knew things were fine.
