What is the proper role of government in the US? Topic

Job creation will continue to be slow as long as Obamacare is looming over the employers heads.  The only ones that are safe to hire are the ones with the exemptions (McDonalds) or companies that do not offer "Cadillac" plans (meh health insurance).  So higher paying, better jobs are out and the chicken pluckers are in.

Congratulations.

Obamacare and the threat of another massive stimulus.

I was listening to Randi Rhodes last week and she was talking to a few people that were advocation another stimulus twice the size of the first one paid for by a one time tax on people over $300,000.

I wonder why corporations dont want to expand their employee pool??

Don't want to talk about Bush's job creation record any more, hmm? Can't say I blame you.
That job chart you posted makes George H.W. Bush look like a golden God. I don't remember him that way.

Yeah, I know. The numbers is what they is though.

It is funny how many people keep looking back at his presidency and going "Hey, he wasn't anywhere near as bad as I remember..."

I just accepted a new position at a large financial company that interestingly enough pays a 4% boost to base salary to NOT use their health benefits. Wonder if that's because of new regulations... and what kind of impact that will have on the obamacare #s when more companies go this route.

I currently get a significant boost in my pay for not having coverage.  At my old job, it was about $2000/year.  Mind you, in my state we have the Romneycare disaster for a few years.  I would like to thank all of the rest of the US for sending extra millions to Massachusetts so it can be paid for.  Too bad it isn't sustainable and it taxes the crap out of the poor.

It must of been pretty crappy insurance if you were only paying 2000 a year. I knew a guy who was paying more than that about 8 years ago.

Sorry, they were paying me $2000 a year not to have insurance... and yes the insurance was "McDonald's Plus" (is what I call it) and still costs over $2,000 for an employee.

Oh yeah.  The insurance sucked ***.  Of course, a union guy got the creme de la creme of insurance.

The company had to give it to the union!

Could it be that job creation isnt the most important stat, so the ups and downs seem to not match what was happening in America at the time?
