KEEP THE GOLDEN PARACHUTES!

**** THE LABORERS!

I don't have a problem with GE or any business not paying taxes, as I am of the opinion that those breaks are incentives to businesses staying home rather than going overseas. However I DO think any and all credits should be abolished.

Tax breaks should be sufficient and giving billions in credits to companies who already make large profits is shady at best.

And certainly companies who are eliminating jobs rather than creating jobs should get no credits.

Maybe job creation based incentive credits would be more practical.

Its not the governments job to decide how much ANY non-government employee gets paid. NOTHING WILL CHANGE MY OPINION ON THIS.

Do I like the fact that Bruce Willis earned $100 million dollars to film The Sixth Sense or that Mike Vick will earn $100 million over the next 5 years for playing a game? No - Its ludicris - but its not my place, or the governments, to tell them what they are allowed to earn.... the same goes for CEOs (unless I'm a shareholder).

SCREW THE WORKER!

MORE HOMES FOR THE CEO'S!

Well, when we have companies that are "bailed out" with taxpayer dollars, then yes it is our place to limit or eliminate the bonuses and other bs, that is driving them bankrupt.

Really there should never be a tax-payer funded bailout of a private sector company.

It is absolutely criminal to bail out banks whose CEOs make way too much money, but then let the taxpayer lose his/her house to foreclosure.

Bail out the people who actually pay the taxes being used to bail out greedy bankers and the like.

Agree ---- No 'Bailouts' period. You make your bed, you lay in it. What kind of precident is set when Uncle Sam will come to the rescue?

Its a shame that Obama, Bush, and McCain fleeced America with that bill.

So what so many of you guys are saying is that the rich that can afford to pay taxes shouldnt, and that the poor masses who cant afford to should?  So, you are suggesting that the quickly shrinking middle class foot nearly the entire tax bill?  These very same individuals that are being cut because of mergers and closing of branches that are not profitable?  Come on people think for a minute here.

If GE is paying no taxes in the States to incentivise it to hire more Americans and to not hire in other countries why is it doing exactly the opposite?  GE and all those other companies are outsourcing jobs every single day to 3rd and 2nd world countries.  When and where do we say enough is enough?  You people dont seem to care that you are destroying the west with this kind of thinking.  Have you noticed that in the EU there are 5 countries that are just about ready to default on their loans?  Do you remember about a month ago when Obama had to raise the debt ceiling in order to keep the States afloat?

Maybe EVERYBODY that lives in a democratic country pays their FAIR share, we wouldnt be having these near defaults be happening all over the place.

Mainly I believe we should cut taxes across the board and stop growing govt at a ridiculous rate.

Govt is not should not be there to "take care of" (ie support monetarily) the masses.

If we didnt have social support programs in place then the next time there is a housing crisis or some other financial meltdown we will have the 30s era depression.  Is that what you want?

How about for once instead of saying screw the poor we say the rich should pay their FAIR share.  What is so wrong with that?  I mean the rich are already shipping jobs overseas as fast as they possibly can, its not like they CAN ship them overseas any faster, meanwhile if we tax them the way they deserve to be taxed (that being FAIRLY) then many of our money issues go away just like that.

And if you all think that they can ship jobs overseas faster then how about this; for any company who has outsourced jobs overseas in order for them to ship goods to the states for sale they have to pay higher duties.  We need to disincentivise outsourcing, and the only way we can do that is to hit them where it hurts in the pocketbook.

If we didn't have social support programs in place maybe the culture of America wouldnt have changed over time be so dependent on the government.

America is shipping jobs overseas because other countries incentive us to do so..... its just like what's happening to California right now where tech businesses are relocating to Texas. Penalizing more will only push these companies further away when other countries are dangling golden carrots. How about incentivizing foreign companies to the usa so they can employ us citizens here?

Its other countries that get it.... they are luring our jobs away. Why aren't we luring their jobs from them?

greeny, I know your heart is in the right place.

Let's try a hypothetical analogy.

Say you've got a 17 yr old son who just graduated HS. You give him a Visa CC with a $2500 limit (secured by you).

Your son, being kind hearted like yourself, decides to help a friend out of a jam and maxes out the card. You suck it up and pay the bill.

Now next month he makes a nice donation to help the victims of hurricane Irene. He also helps an elderly couple avoid foreclosure by paying their mortgage for them this month, which puts the card over the limit.

Now although he was doing a kind thing and helping people in need, YOU have to pay the over the limit fee and interest charges.

Do you

A) try to teach your child financial responsibility

or

B) give them a new credit card with an even higher limit of $5000?

That's where we are now in this country.

Many of us feel that it is imperative to teach the govt. the importance of financial responsibility, while others are just wanting to give the govt. another credit card.

I agree with you Phil, financial responsibility is an important thing.  We do need to make our collective governments learn that lesson.  The differences lie in how people think is where do we cut the fat?

And another difference is I believe in FAIR taxation, you rightys seem to think only the poor and middle class should pay tax.  Whats up with that?
9/14/2011 8:02 AM
Are you wanting to tax people making lots of money or businesses?
