Why hasn't this been mentioned?   With all sorts of people saying "I'm not sure this is a good idea", the Obama Administration pushed 500m to them.   Because Biden was available for a photo op?

Hmmmmm......

In August 2009, e-mail exchanges between Energy Department staff members pointed out that a credit-rating agency predicted that the project would run out of cash in September 2011. Solyndra shut its doors on the final day of August.

Tax money well-spent?

Govt. shouldn't be picking and choosing which companies IT thinks ought to succeed and receive tax-payer funds.
Especially in light of the spot-on warnings being directly ignored.

It was truly amazing to me, watching MSNBC this morning. (Morning Joe or something) They were discussing cutting taxes and the GE paying no taxes and the W Buffet being in a lower tax bracket than his secretary.

The guys were echoing our conversation almost verbatim.

I am now convinced that these guys read the WIS forums every morning to come up with good show ideas...

I think it couldn't have happened at a better time. With the Pres trying to shove yet another stimulus package through.

Listening to the show this morning, I was encouraged to hear that many Democratic business owners are really bothered by the new proposal and are finally coming to the realization that Obama has no earthly idea how business actually works.

Also, Paul Ryan was on, saying how the GE thing was absolutely wrong and needed to be corrected ASAP.
His basic point was that if we can close these loopholes and get rid of the tax-shelters, we could actually LOWER the tax-rate on everyone and still get more revenue. Which is really what needs to happen.
He also echoed the sentiment we have been discussing, of creating an environment to lure businesses back to the US.

In the US, businesses (that actually pay taxes ie not GE) pay an average of 34% in taxes at the Federal, State and Local level, but in most other countries that number is about 20%.

That's quite a big difference. No wonder companies ship jobs elsewhere.

This is another example of the Obama Administration being more concerned with their social agneda than actual job creation.

Light rail, Solar Power, Hybrid cars and healthy food. All the jobs have to come from these areas. If you want government money for anything else your screwed!

And of course every dead soldier is a tragic loss.

Want to remind everyone more Japanese died in 3 days in Tarawa than Americans in 8 years in Iraq!

And the entire Iraq war cost a little more than Obama's failed stimulus plan!
