A straight person isn't affected if a gay person can or cannot get married.
Way to twist the argument.

Assuming I was not currently married, I would currently have the legal right to marry another man in the state in which I currently live.  If It came up for a public vote, and I voted against same sex marriage in my state, would I not be voting to take away that legal right?

It doesn't matter if it's a right that I would be predisposed to exercise, but according to your reasoning, it's still a right that I currently have.  Correct?
You aren't gay. Same sex marriage isn't any more an option for you than straight marriage is for a gay person.

Is a person who has never smoked pot affected if a pot head can legally buy it?
Nope.

Nope.
So then is allowing people to buy marijuana the same as SSM?

So why is it OK for a non-pot smoker to be able to vote on whether pot should be legalized, but not OK for a straight person to vote on SSM?

You have the right to get married. A gay person doesn't under current Californua law.

Because the non pot smoker is also forbidden from smoking pot when they vote to ban it.

You just said that non smokers are not impacted.

You said non gays are not impacted.

So why is it different?

I don't know how to respond to that question. What exactly are you asking?

You accept that we have the right to ban drugs and you also admit that drugs users are not impacted by non users, just like non gays are not impacted by gay marriage.

Not true.  All people in California have the right to get married to an opposite-sex spouse.  Nobody has the right to get married to a same-sex spouse.

Everybody has the exact same rights in California.

If you were single and the law in your state only allowed same sex marriage and banned straight marriage, would you have the right to get married?

If we ban drugs they are banned for everyone. If we ban SSM, marriage is only banned for homosexuals.

Yes.  I would have the right to get married to a same-sex spouse.  Just like every other person in my state.

The fact that I might choose not to exercise that right does not negate the fact that the right exists.
