Obama: Worst President Ever? Topic

Referring back to the original post at the top of page 13 of this thread that started this clusterfuck of a discussion, shocking news about how President Flip-Flop is benefitting from his endorsement of SSM.

I'm sure his "evolving view" was influenced by his handlers who said "You'll get more votes this way."

Your tradition is confined to you and your culture.  Or maybe just to you.  Your Christmas tradition and my Christmas tradition are two different things.

The institution and tradition of marriage is universal, as it has been defined with a consistent basic foundation of "one man and one woman" over thousands of years of human culture and social norms.

Do you understand that?
And it still includes one man and one woman for everyone that wants to get married.  Marriage is now expanded to include gay couples also.

That change is not a harm in itself to anyone.  You already said that your marriage isn't affected by gay marriage.  Whose marriage is affected?
tec, you still didn't answer the question.

You said gay marriage doesn't affect your marriage.  Whose marriage does it affect?

So what?  Isn't that the point of being a politician?  Take positions on issues that your constituency cares about?

Don't you mean "Change positions to placate the voting public"?

I've already answered this question about a half dozen times.  Go back and read it again.  I'm tired of repeating myself.

Yeah, you keep saying it changes tradition.  So what?  How does that harm anyone?

You already said it won't affect your marriage.  Whose marriage will it affect?

The only answer I've seen is "tradition."

Changing tradition isn't a harm in itself.  If gay marriage won't affect your marriage, whose marriage will it affect?

Lather.  Rinse.  Repeat.
6/6/2012 2:41 PM
Um, ok.  You still haven't once in this entire thread pointed out one person who would be harmed if gay marriage continued.
6/6/2012 2:43 PM
Do you have anything new to add to this discussion?
6/6/2012 3:11 PM
Do you? Or are you conceding that no one is harmed by allowing gay marriage to continue?
6/6/2012 3:20 PM
Can anyone explain what standard makes this a civil rights issue as opposed to a simple regulation applied to marriage in addition to the many marriage regulations in place now?
6/6/2012 3:26 PM

Jrd, I thought you were prohibited from answering questions with questions.
