Will a weak-armed 1B kill you in this game, since 1B don't usually throw much?

Is it a terrible idea putting a guy with fielding ratings of around 55/55/30/55 at 1B? He's going to field his position just fine - the only time a 1B really has to throw is on a DP attempt at 2B or trying to gun a guy down at home, which don't happen often.

I don't know that I've ever looked at arm on a 1B.    Glove then range.

1B arm not gonna come into play that much.

For 1B I look for a hitter.

It has a surprisingly high effect on plus plays.

Those are range-related, boogerbrains.

The 4 per season he gets are range related, and the 5-6 he doesn't get with his 52 range may be due to his weak arm.

I have no idea how you're correlating the two.   A weak arm, if it has an effect, would show up as a negative play.

I thought he was joking.  Then again, he's booger, so no idea what he's thinking.

Or if he's thinking.

All I can think is that he's implying a first baseman's range might get him to an otherwise unreachable ball, but his weak arm prevents him from throwing the runner out, thus cancelling out the plus play. Though unless it's a play at 2B or home, I have no idea why arm would come into play. A flip to a pitcher or 2B covering 1B doesn't take any arm strength.

And I certainly how no idea how you would prove his arm cost him a plus play, as it would just show up as an infield hit in the boxscore.

You don't have to prove it. Just say it's so, and POOF, it is so.

The 1B has to have SOME throwing ability, but his longest throw will come on bunts with runners on 1st and 2nd (assuming he's going for the lead runner) and that happens around once every eclipse.

Well, in real life, the 1B is also your infield cutoff guy (stationed near the mound). But that's more a quick release since that throw maxes out at 60 feet.

Arm strength is much less important for a 1B than any other position.
