I was in Gleeman2 for 4 seasons, and Gleeman1 for 2.
There are a lot of nice owners there and most people were engaged with their team.
It becomes pretty plain what the strategy is: sell players as they become expensive for a) other prospects, b) money, or c) both. I figured it out the hard way in season one. I had bought one of Gleeman's players. At the end of the season I missed out on a pretty good IFA. Gleeman got him, if I hadn't spent money on the player I would have had more money to transfer, and he would have had less. I would have had the player instead of a bunch of cash left over. My mistake. I learned from it and in season two didn't complete a trade with him because I was unwilling to include cash.
By my 4th season there were a few of us who thought that the cash inclusion in trades were bad for the league. We even managed to veto a trade. That was followed by an immediate chiding and rule change that made it almost impossible to veto any trade. The trade was reposted and went through. I left the league after that season.
There's no secret about how things are done there. And those that stick around don't seem to mind. In looking for my old teams I noticed a number of owners that have been there since season one.
Oh, and I never once read anything while I was there that led me to know that he had an internet following. All and all, Aaron seemed like a pretty decent guy that runs his world the way he wants. Everyone is free to spend their money somewhere else, but a lot of owners stay. You have to give him credit for that.
