Brilliant or dirty? Topic

I wouldn't have believed that you messed up and meant to put players on the trade block. You've had too much experience in the game for an honest mistake like that.

It could happen.   I gave this guy 20m a year  Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Steve Washington so I'm not above doing dumb ****.  And I've waived a guy without putting him on revocable.     I was sort of hoping for the knee-jerk reaction of "Haha.  Your stewpid.  I calm you're playes" reaction.   I'm a suspicious type of owner.   When I see a trade that looks odd, I try to figure out what the guy, who offered and is losing, is trying to do.   That's the first thing I'd have done if another owner in Coop had said that.

Dirty and brilliant. I wouldn't cry about it. All is fair in love, war and HBD

LOL.   An owner caught trying to get an alias into one of my worlds voted "dirty".    WTF?

Do you think the outcome would of been the same if you just said you were going to take the best offer by 3 PM and never explained why?

As far as being dirty. I don't think its dirty. You did nothing illegal but you obviously lied. Lying/bluffing is part of trading. "Your offer was good but I have better offers".  The other owners have free will. No one forced them to make a offer. If I was in that world I wouldn't offer you anything in trade that wouldn't make me happy. Whatever your reasons are too make the trade is between you and you, I could care less your reasons for trading the players.

The only way that I can think of that it would be dirty is if someone made that trade as a favor to send the player back to you as a courtesy because of your screw up, Then I think that would be dirty. But if someone made the trade because they thought they were getting the better of the deal then I think its fine.

However I don't think this strategy fits with the persona you  portray on the forums and I can see why some people may view you differently.

Persona I portray?   Pretty sure I'm the same in the forums, world chat and real world.   Some people like me, think I'm funny and some people don't.

As for the outcome, yeah, I think it's the same but I don't think it happens as quickly.  For the most part, I wanted people to know those two were on the WW and that I wanted to move them quickly.   Had I simply put them on the trade block and said "Availbable", I don't think it happens by 3 PM.

Anyway, I wouldn't have done it if I felt it harmed the world.    The end result was a trade and a WW claim.    THE HORROR!!!!!

Mike do you feel validated at this point? While i was packing, I found an old Burger King crown. I was gonna mail it to you.

Nope.   Looks like more people think it was a dirty trick than a brilliant move.

However, an owner caught trying to sneak an alias into Moonlight Graham voted "dirty" so there's that.    Another owner, who I blasted for a couple of real life years for trade raping n00bs in Hamilton, also voted "dirty".    Therefore, I'm not sure the "dirty" side has much validation.

Everyone, in every deal of any kind, has some extra motive beyond just player for player.  Doesn't matter if they admit it to themselves or not.

If owners care, it's up to them to figure out what.

Every night, before he goes to bed, shobob says a prayer for you Mike. Remember that.

If that makes you feel better, more power to you.

It sounds like the only affect this trade is really having on your world is that you're losing an owner who, A. You don't mind losing anyways and B. Might have been gone due to MWR anyways. I'm not sure what else you're looking for in this thread. If someone were to say, "No, lying isn't wrong, it's awesome and you're the bestest smartest HBD player out there" would that help? If someone in my world said they accidentally waived people I would look into trading for their waived players to avoid somebody getting something for nothing by claiming them. You wanted to lie to convince nicer owners to do you a favor so that you could get a strategic advantage - had I have been the nicer owner trying to do you a favor I would've been hacked off about the lie, moreso after you bragged about it. If I were in a world with you I would avoid trading with you in the future, but I'm not. If the lie would have made someone trade you something they wouldn't have otherwise then it would matter more, but it didn't. So who cares?

I voted dirty because it wasn't very brilliant....

I also don't like the idea of a team getting that pitcher for nothing so it worked out for the best in my eyes.. If the pitcher had been picked up on the WW it's the equivalent of a shady trade which isn't good for any world..
