Expectations for player w/odd splits/contact Topic

Hi all. I'm not very experienced and have a player that I can't find a comp for (using player search) at the big-league level. The most likely reason for this is nobody would play such a guy in the bigs, so I can't find anyone like him. But, on the off chance that he could serve a useful purpose, I'll try the veteran owners here.

Contact: 24
Power: 77
vLHP: 91
vRHP: 57
Eye: 61
baserun: 92
speed: 61

He's got a 1b/DH style glove.

If he could play a position I might consider using him some against lefties, but as a 1B/DH he's not good enough to be on a roster.

Against lefties it's worth a shot.  If he's a switch hitter there may be more hope for him.  More than likely just a career AAA guy

Looks like he is LH. I don't know that he starts, but I would have no problem with him on my bench.

He'd be a decent role player.  Pinch hitter, pinch runner, occasional start to give the regular 1B/DH a rest every now and then.

Thanks everybody. I assume it's the low contact that really amplifies his limitations, and that a 91 vLHP doesn't really alleviate it that much. I see very few players in the bigs with contacts <35.

I'm in the NL, and I find that I've developed about 6 AAAA 1b/dh types. Oops. I need, maximum, one. Live and learn. These guys can't even play RF, and I doubt they are worth anything in trade. Too bad they don't give HBD credits for the AAA league championship.

But HBD sure does love generating the  Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Tony Kent  's of the world.  I see no logic to his 56 hr season.

I see no logic to the fact that his ratings look like a RF but he has played every position but catcher and spends most of his time collecting minus plays at 2B.

The fact that he only had 11 errors and 14 negative plays in 1,000 innings at second is sort of amazing too.

He has 20 contact. A career .807 OPS. Elite power though, and a switch hitter.

Elite power can cover up a lot of other lacking ratings I've found, especially if it's coupled with a great batting eye.

Swing hard and pray...I mean he gets luck in 10% of his abs for Kent.
