Advice for a new commish Topic

I just took over the commissioner's chair in Munson. The world has had issues in its past, which I want to leave in the past with certain problematic owners no longer being around. As an owner I'm nothing special- do some dumb things, some smart things, can't evaluate pitching to save my life, but in this role I want to do right by this league and have it be a place players want to be.

So, veteran owners and especially commissioners, what advice to you have for me?

Have clear, concise rules.
Enforce them fairly and to the word.
Start recruiting early.

What Mike said.

Also,:

You will need to put what's best for the world as a whole instead of what's best for any one or two individuals.  This means that you're probably not going to be able to make everybody happy at all times.   So don't try, and don't take it personally when they're not.

Thanks guys. Already playing catch up on recruiting, but grateful I've got a 3 day weekend and wicked wind chills robbing any incentive to leave the house.

Could not of been said any better.

It also appears the "successful" leagues include input from current owners on which owners are allowed to fill open teams. Among other reasons, it's a good way to encourage participation from the entire league.

Any thoughts on how to fill a vacancy in what looks like a dumpster fire of a franchise?

Advertise it as such.  Some owners specifically look for opportunities like that as a challenge.
