I am actually currently debating which to join and I really want to pick HBD, but I'm looking for reason why. It seem OOTP isn't as good with their online leagues....is that fair to say? They don't appear to be in one centralized location.
Joey, I played OOTP online many years ago (2002-2008), and I can honestly say it was the best online league experience I've ever had. So, I personally think OOTP is absolutely fantastic for online leagues.
The key is finding a league with a quality commissioner and core group of GMs. Leagues with those two components will stand the test of time. There are some online OOTP leagues out there that have been around for 10+ real life years and are still thriving. Then there are some that fold after a year or so.
I also am interested in joining an online league. But I am waiting until OOTP 17 is released to explore that possibility further. There are advertisements for some OOTP 16 leagues (that will likely transition to 17 soon) in the online league forum, but when the new game is released, there should be a slew of new leagues created most likely. I personally hope to get in on a brand new league rather than join an existing one. If you are fine with joining an existing league, I see several quality ones with openings, particularly
Monty Brewster World Baseball Association which is supposed to be one of the best out there.
Have you ever played OOTP before?
