I recently took over for a team that had a 48 rating pitching coach in High A where he had 2 solid pitching prospects. I'd say the previous coach was tanking, but the overall structure was so bad, I think he never could figure out the whole rebuilding process despite having **** poor records, high draft picks and lots of IFA cash. I know he had to give up the coaching gig as he was about to run out of time to deal w/ his new residency following graduation from med school, so it sounds like a guy that was just to busy to keep everything together properrly while tring to build from the ground up.
Anyhoo, the story doesn't matter, how much will the 2 pitchers in Low A be hurt by their pitching coach? They were down there for about 50 games before I took over, and the first thing I did was bump them to AA where there was an OK pitching coach.
They just recently went thru an improvement cycle and showed solid gains after stalling thru the 1st improvement cycle as well as the promotion cycle. Assuming I have decent enough coaching going forward, will they progress close to where they should would have otherwise? Will they forever lose the improvements they missed in those 2 improvement cycles, or will the regain them. They're both pretty young with time to recover.
Here are the guys in question:
