Confused About Defensive Heirarchies Topic

After having my team in one world blow the final out in the ALCS and going on to lose...I've tried to find a better understanding of how defensive heirarchies work.

I have one SS on the heirarchy who is above average in all areas.  He's weak against lefties so I usually have another guy, who's a great all around player, but just below average in RG and GL (81-81).  Anyhow, in this situation the second guy got ejected while the #1 guy on the heirarchy was on the bench - not resting.

SIMMY decides to replace my ejected SS with a LH CF with a noodle arm while my #1 defensive SS stayed on the bench.

What gives??

Had your manager been ejected? Apparently the bench coach can make weird decisions when he's the one in control.

I am not sure that is considered a defensive replacement if he is ejected.  What inning was it in?  Is your player rest hierarchy different?

Good point.  I'm sure it is, but without looking, I know for fact that my LH CF is nowhere near an infield position in any way.  My player was ejected in the top half of an inning arguing balls and strikes.  Manager not involved.

Just a very odd substitution.  I have no idea how Simmy could have come up with it...

Send a ticket in. Something still isn't working properly with this situation. Here is correspondence I sent in earlier in a similar situation.

In the attached box score, my regular starting SS was injured for the day. As I understand it, the engine cannot, at the present time, shift other players' positions in order to compensate (for ex. move my 2B to SS and then subbing for the 2B).

My question, however, is how the replacement starting SS is selected from among the players on the bench. Here, Blade LaRue was selected - of the available players, he has the worst arm accuracy, the worst arm strength, and the worst glove, and he is Left-handed. He was clearly the worst option of the 4 available, so how is it that he was the one selected to be the starting SS for the game?

Thanks for the note. Who were the other options and what were their Auto Rest settings at?

Auto-rest for everyone is/was at 99, but all 4 were at 100%. The other options were:

Name (Primary Position) - Range; Glove; Arm Strength; Arm Accuracy
Pedro Mesa (C) - 20; 43; 86; 81
Nash Radmanovich (CF) - 92; 85; 51; 55
Dale Watson (LF) - 94; 83; 61; 59

Instead, this guy was chosen to play SS:
Blad LaRue (1B) - 37; 28; 34; 41

Thanks for looking into this.

While not a bug, you have pointed out a small piece of code we can and will improve for the next update.

Thanks

Thanks z.  Sounds like a very similar situation.  It's very early in the season and all my players are at 100%.  Rest should not have factored in - and my CF is not in the rest heirarchy for that position either.  If you don't mind, I might just copy/paste your ticket w/ my info and send it in.

It didn't cost me the game or anything, but having actually made a real defensive heirarchy mistake and having that destroy my season, I am very sensitive to what a mistake like this could cause.  I'd hate to have something like sabotage the season in an important game.

Sparky must have asked for an infielder, and lo, one appeared!

Doesn't look like this small piece of code was something they addressed in the update.

No problem. If you want to refer to the ticket number, it is #74014.

Any response to your ticket yet?

Umm....

Yeah.  They reviewed it and said that they agree with my logic.  The only problem is.... I didn't realize I had set my SS on "rest" for that game.

DOH!!!
