Why not multi-season or lifetime prices for teams? Topic

is this a spamming thread for ootp baseball?

There's a discount for multi season purchases.

For reasons already stated, you don't want to force someone to stay in a league.
A team can take 1-2 seasons to recover from an abandonment now. Someone loses interest 1-2 seasons into a 4-5 season commitment, you have a disaster on your hands.

Mike is correct. $8 a month is not that expensive. If it doesn't entertain you, then that $8 goes elsewhere. There's a substantial amount of business here that has not gone elsewhere at this pricepoint.

I would just like to see WIS take some of this money we are pouring into their coffers spent on marketing.  I visit a lot of sports websites and have seen a total of one WIS banner ads.  It was the one I clicked on to find HBD.  One would think they would put a little money into bringing more owners in.  Personally, i would still play if it was $20.00 or $50.00 a season.  I love/hate this game.

I'm pretty sure almost everyone here already knows about OOTP baseball.

As for Football Manager Live, it is similar category of game which scratches the same itch. I thought I was being helpful by mentioning it.

In my experience, people always think their hobbies are "cheap" and come up with all sorts of rationalizations - they are hardly objective. If you are really into a game, the price probably doesn't matter much. Is HBD cheap in absolute terms? Yes. But is it cheap compared to competing products? No.

HAHAHAHA.

According to you, I should buy a Sega system so that I can buy the cheaper Football manager. Every year.

Shut it.

As JTP pointed out on the previous page, we're given rebates every five years we stay in the same league.  And for most of us, the cost isn't the issue.  We're enjoying ourselves with our fake players.  It gives us a respite from the day-to-day drudgery of work.

If I had heard of OOTP first, I might be espousing their wonderfulness now, but the reality is that the people here like it here, and the people there like it there.

If it ain't your cup of tea, don't play.  But don't try to change it for the thousands that are enjoying their break from reality.

You are confusing the Football Manager PC game (also an excellent game) with no online play, which like Madden comes out every year with Football Manager Live which is subscription based and has persistent online worlds with 1000 or so players in one world.  Same company, different games.

By the way, what is a Sega system?

Sega sucks.  IntelliVision rules.
8/11/2010 12:58 PM
Sega, Atari 2600, whatever.

IntelliVision football....my group of friends put in a rule of no flat passes, or you'd be physically beaten. Guaranteed touchdown everytime.
8/11/2010 1:02 PM
Wow, they let Canadian convicts play IntelliVision while they're incarcerated?
8/11/2010 1:04 PM
Probably.

You should sim a dozen full seasons on IntelliVision, and see if you come in last each time there too.

I'd love to find a working IntelliVision system and hook it up to the big screen.

And you're right, that roll to the right, throw back to the left flat pass was the best go-to play in the game.

I preferred the Odyssey system so I could play KC Munchkin instead of Pac Man.
