Do you find it odd that last season's picks, the ones who've been on your roster all season are making the same as this season's picks?

There's a lot of pressure when you're always right.    Heavy lies the crown....
9/7/2010 6:48 PM
Anyway, the point is simple.  I can sell some career AAA player at the end of the season for 55k and sign my first seven picks.   After all, it's only 55k and the season is over, what's the harm?
9/7/2010 6:54 PM
THEY SELL PLAYERS IN MLB, RIGHT?   WHY CAN'T I??????
9/7/2010 6:56 PM

THE OTHER GUY HAD 55K LEFT OVER IN SALARY!!!   YOU CAN'T CARRY IT INTO THE NEXT SEASON!!!!   HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET A DEFENSIVE SS FROM ME THAT I WASN'T GOING TO KEEP, RIGHT??????

I guess you can see why "It's only a couple of thousand dollars" doesn't sit well with me.

It's a dynasty game.  That 8k might be the difference between a future HOFer and a wasted draft pick.

deanod, I think the problem there is more that someone would give you money for a jerkoff prospect & that the world wouldn't veto such a deal based on it being unbalanced.

This is acutally where the problem starts.  One man's jerkoff prospect is the next guy's back-up catcher.   But that 10k in cash I get gives me the ability to sig the number 2 pick in the draft.    Suddenly I turned my jerkoff prospect into the a future HOFer.    The sad part is there is about 50 ways to get that 10k.  But the quickest, easiest is to sell my jerkoff prospect(that will become your back-up C).
I can just wait until the end of the season when salaries are 0 dollars to sign that #2 pick as long as I have the prospect dollars.
No you can't.  Draftees are always $7650.
I have never tried it with draftees, I have done it many times with free agents. Like Kcden said I will also try it once the season is over. I am going to try it with one of my teams right now and they have six games left in the season. I will see how much is taken off my available cash.

Look at the post of kcden's rookie league players.   It's right there for everyone to see.

What is the difference between what you said and trading a player who is a journeymen(you can find them on the waiver wires 2 or 3 times a week) who makes 327k for a future journeymen who makes 55k and then using the leftover cash to sign seven draft picks?

All players have a cash value attached to them. Adding cash to the trade is just adding a extra cash value to the players, many worlds add cash to the trade to compensate for the players salary, which is no different than buying players... I just evaluate the trade with the cash in mind.

I just did it and the cycle just occured and the player was signed.. My payroll before I signed the player was $75, 401,514 and after I signed the player it was $75,401,514. So you can sign a draftee at the end of the season and not add to payroll, you will still have to pay the prospect bonus, but not payroll. Yes I understand you won't get the advantages of in season bumps, but you also get the advantage of having 1 more season before you need to put that player on your 40 man roster.

Care to explain why kcden's draftees from this season and last season both make $7650?

By the way, I got caught with less than $7650 and wasn't able to sign my draftee.  So, unless you're working some magic, draftees cost $7650.

At the end of the season I plan on  trying it in Jersey league where I am $46,500 over the limit, not sure why it allowed me to go over the limit, but it did. Since I am over the limit I wonder if it will allow me to sign any player, but its something I will find out at the end of the season.

I don't know Mike, I can just tell you what I did less than 25 minutes ago. There is 5 games left in the season and I offered one of my lowest unsigned draft picks a contract, when the cycle rolled over my payroll stayed the same and the player was signed. I don't know how to explain it or justify it, but it happen.

Its also the same league Kcden is in.
