Commishes of rolling private worlds... Topic

Are you guys noticing that there aren't many nibbles right now?  Or is it me?  I just counted up the number of apparent open spots as advertised in the classifieds, and it's at least 55.  This all goes back to my annoyance at WiS for creating 5 new worlds in the last 3 months.

It took us (Mantle) three days to fill one open position after we rolled.

But I'm not sure it's the new worlds that are causing the problems (though it's foolish for WIS to allow them to keep getting created).  I think it's mostly the time of the year . . . school/college is starting, fall activities (baseball/soccer/football) are starting, etc.  I'm guessing that people have a little less free time right now to spend on games.

It's taking forever if you are being picky.

Hell, look at Aaron!  Public world, one spot.... they haven't filled, yet.

Of course, who knows what condition that team is actually in.........

I think that's a huge issue.   Owners are looking at teams/worlds and saying "I don't know" is there's been competitive balance issues.    A lot of owners aren't interested in taking that perpetual 58-68 win team in a world that sends the same teams to the playoffs, or has the same WS winner, every season.   IMO, worlds have allowed themselves to get out of whack and, with the sheer volume of available teams, owners are considering everything instead of just one thing.

Good point about it being a time of year thing.  So that means it was doubly foolish of WiS to create all of those new worlds when they did.

As I look through the classifieds, it seems to me that all types of teams and worlds are available.  I'm bumping the Yaz thread to the top 5-6 times a day, but whenever I look, it's half way down the screen.  This has been one of the busiest rollovers I've ever seen, and I'm not noticing anyone taking any teams.

This may well be true... but in OCD and Fingers we are/were filling playoff or near-playoff teams at a rate of 2 per week.  Even good worlds offering good franchises are going that slow, although bad franchises in bad worlds may well be going slower.

Sent in a ticket to whine about this to admin.  I just want to attract the site's attention to what I think is a real issue.  It seems to me like they are pretty short sighted about it.  Although creating a new world gives them a quick buck, I don't think that there is an infinite amount of HBD users.  When things go slow, people get frustrated, and worlds sit languishing between seasons, while waiting for 2 or 3 spots to fill.  Don't they see that an existing world rolling smoothly is just like creating a new world as far as income goes?  Who runs this site?  Gary Bettman?

Perhaps we are nearing the days of contracting worlds and issuing free credits again.

I've looked at a few different worlds and a lot of the teams available are pretty crappy or are average at best and have teams in each division that are fully stocked at all levels..  Another thing, you look at these teams and their history and the year to year owners for these crap teams have become victims of trade raped in alot of cases and dont return and leave the team worst off then when they started.

Another reason owners need to change their mindset from "I'm just making my team the best it can be" to "Will this complete traderape do damage to the world?"   And the rest of the world needs to help them if they won't.    They need to go from "It's his team, he can do what he wants" to "Will this slapdick do damage to the world with his BS?"
