I gotta say, deano has killed me in this thread.  I seldom, nay, never, find deano funny but he had me laughing.   I'm glad the wife isn't around to say "WTF are you laughing about?"   Then I'd have to explain to her how a nerd thinks upping his magic rating is less nerdy than fake baseball.

And, this is pretty sad, I figured out why plague liked the PKS games while walking my dogs.   If I read it right, there were only certain areas where one could kill another player.   And only players of a certain level could kill other players.  I assume they get their loot when they do that.   Sooooooo.....I imagine Bigplaguemaster(which I assume was his PKS player name) would hang out on the edge of these zones, talk to some dude who couldn't kill him, lure him into the kill zone, kill him and take his loot.    Kind of like traderaping a n00b.

I can't believe I don't know the Moose Lady. I thought only science fiction fans did that kind of getup. But pagans apparently do it too.

There's a lot of overlap in those two groups.

I can't believe this ridiculous discussion has gone on for 10+ pages. Oh wait. I'm in the forums, so, yes I can.

That's a lot of stuff I do not understand.
It's pretty straightforward really.  You have to achieve murderer status and then use the butterfly wings for the win!

FWIW, I'm always amazed how seriously some people take this stuff.  I took some public policy class on the internet in college, and we had a guest speaker talking about some online community (called Second Life or something) where you basically do the same stuff as normal life except I guess the appeal is that it's easier to not be a loser.  Anyway, somehow or another some dude exploited a glitch to rape some girl's avatar with his avatar, and it was apparently very controversial.  I asked the guest speaker why she wouldn't just say, "well, that was rough" and then X out and go eat lunch.  The guy didn't care for my question very much, I forget what he said but he got pissy and tried to avoid calling on me for the rest of the lecture.
I actually find this pretty interesting.  Too bad you didn't pay attention so I could ask some questions.

I'm of the mindset as you.   Except I'd have thought "Damn, when it was inevitable, why not just turn the computer off?  No need to witness the  cyber-you getting raped."   Beyond that, I think rape recovery is a mental thing.   The physical aspect of it(assuming you don't get knocked up or diseased) is over within a few days.  But I can only imagine the mental aspect of it.  So, in order to be highly disturbed by the raping of the cyber-you, you'd have to really identify with it.  And, if that's the case, it seems like you'd have to be around 24-7 to ensure the safety and well-being of cyber-you.  So how does one get away from the computer if you're that tied into the game?

As for the cyber-rapist, he's probably a really, really disturbed nerd.

In summation, instead of concentrating on not getting laid while in college, you should have paid attention.

Well, I would say once counts as seldom so I believe I have been upgraded.

And there are always a million ways to juke any system in any game, especially when you're playing against other humans who are unfamiliar with the ins and outs.  I'm sure that if people were going out of their way to cuss out plague on the regular, he was doing something that was deemed unethical within the gaming community.  And he would just say "I'M A MAN!!! MY MAGIC ATTACK RATE IS 40!"

Definition of irony-Someone who spends 24/7 on these forums calling anyone a nerd. Your as nerdy as they come. I am surprised you have time for a wife, and I have never seen you off these forums long enough to walk a dog.

Too some people in a PVP game they think anytime they get killed its unethical. I am betting that would be you guys. If you can't handle playing the game don't play the game.

The only way you'd know if I was around 24/7 would be to be around 24/7.    I've long said I'm at a desk from 7 to 8 EST to cover East/West coast customers.  Any time other than that is my personal time.  Mock me for those times.

I actually did pay attention, it was a few years back though so I don't recall the precise details of the discussion.  And I was less empathetic at the time- it was a bit much for me to imagine somebody tying in their entire self-identity to a computer game.  I likened it to the equivalent of me blowing a 3-0 series lead in the WS on this site- I would be mildly ****** off for a few minutes before getting distracted by other things.  But you're right that if somebody was around 24-7 tending to their cyber self, that it might take a bit of a toll on her, because she wouldn't have a real life to fall back on.

The other way I can tell is I can read  post times. I don't need to be on 24/7 to read post times.

Wrong analogy. We, and I am including myself in this because I agree, think that it is wrong to take so much pride in going around and "killing" the first-time gamers. It's no fun for the gamers and they mostly quit.  It doesn't make you a better player.

The main thought would be, "Don't play against the new gamers," in both counts...but hey, if "killing the newbies" is what you find fun...party on, Wayne.

The other thing is that he has everything twisted such that the side of the argument (i.e. everyone but plague) who believes that trading raping n00bs is bad are all victims of such circumstances.

I'm just curious to know how you take n00bs behind the woodshed and still finish under .500 in 'tard worlds with such frequency.
