ANTI-TANKING RULES Topic

Advance scouting would be a waste of money even if prospect progression wasn't easy to predict.

So says tankerwood.   Slashing payroll and making a 52 WIN TEAM WORSE can't be anything but tanking.   Would you like to know what he said when called on it?  Yep, you guessed it "I did the best I could with what I had without hurting the future of my team."
Show me the rule I voilated that season or STFU and go back to gaming the Advance Scouting rules...at least I am not using a defect in the game engine to win games.
You two should get a room.

Why can't this be their room, and we're all watching through a peephole?

So you have to violate rules to tank?  I don't think so.  You've proven that you don't.

I could easily lose my last 10 in Coop to finish 73-89.    I probably wouldn't even have to try very hard to do it.  It wouldn't even be my worst streak this season.   I wouldn't be breaking any rules.   But I'd damn sure be tanking.    Much like an owner who MAKES A 52 WIN TEAM WORSE.

I'm hoping for a Charleston sweep of Atlanta to end the season.  MAKE IT SO!

This is exact proof that you have no idea whatyou are talking about. If you lose the next 10 games on purpose, you will be tanking. The key two words are ON PURPOSE. Choosing to rebuild a franchise that several other woners had completely destroyed at the cost of one more very lousy season - but doing everything you can with a lousy team to win as many as you can in that season, is not tanking. You point out to me one thing I did in that season that was an intentional attempt to lose games and I will admit to tanking. Since you can't, you have once again proven to be the loudest, most obnoxiuos attention-whore on an internet site and you can be proud of that. Maybe yourteacher will even give you a gold star.

By the way, I just checked, and I made exactly TWO trades in that 49 win season. One trade was of a minimm salary pitcher who spent half the season in AAA for the other team that year. The other trade was of two setup guys, one who made miniumum and one who made 1.3 million - and I got several players back including my regular right fielder for the entire season who was one of the best players on my team.

You also finished the season with $33M allocated to player payroll and $39M ($58M, really) allocated to prospects.  Is it too much to ask to spend a few extra million to win 60 games instead of totally disregarding your ML club in favor of adding IFA's?

HE WAS DOING HIS BEST WITH WHAT HE HAD WITHOUT DAMAGING THE FUTURE OF HIS TEAM!!!!!

Of course, tankerwood is a fine example of what you don't do can also make you a tanker.  What he didn't do was try to make a 52 win team better.

And I love the guy who started the "Most Championships" thread when he had the most championships only to ignore it when he stops winning calling me an attention whore.

Hello pot.  I'd like you to meet this kettle.

Wow this thread is still going... I need a popcorn refill...
