Hmmmm, sympathy isn't one of the strong points of this group.  Maybe there's a scrapbooking club that will be more accommodating.

But I cannot figure out how to repair a ******* boat.

If an idiot thinks they will figure this game out in a few hours, they are nuts.  It takes a couple of seasons to find which flaw is fatal, and which is just a limiting factor.  Get the whiner a diaper.

I am a college professor and collegiate coach (albeit in a different sport) and it took many seasons and multiple leagues to gain an understanding of how to build a successful franchise. And I'm still learning...For a new person to think they can come in and find success is elementary.

I think sometimes people make it out to be harder than it is.   Just learning the basics, enough to not completely suck, isn't that difficult.   Everything is recorded and just waiting for you to look at it.   Which teams had the best pitching?  Who were their pitchers?  What were their ratings?    All right there.   The trick if figuring out how to get those types while building your team within the budget constraints you set.

We have a n00b in one of my leagues who is a clueless as I've ever seen. So far 0-21. Giving up 16.1 RPG. Has 21 players on his ML roster, 12 on his AAA roster. Almost all pitchers have been at 0% since day 1 because he overworked his short staff during ST(I can see how that statement will be commented on! :). He made no signings during the FA period and has not signed anyone since, so every team is understocked. I sent him a detailed sitemail as to steps he should take to make the team at least competitive, but he has not done one thing. He signs in, but does nothing. We are now waiting for him to start SPs for 10 straight games under 50% so we can replace him. Unfortunately, with leagues having trouble filling privately lately, we went public and this is what we got. It has obviously thrown the competitive balance of the league into the crapper. Many n00bs are clueless, but they ask questions and make moves to try and figure out how this sim works. Never seen anyone do absolutely nothing before.

It's been 12 straight now with a starter under 50%. What a shame it looks like there is quite a bit of talent on that roster.

all these contract rules about when you can sign a player and for how much. you have to be a college professer or else its way over your head. I know they trying to make it more like real i guess, but now its too complex and that takes the fun out of it. Glad I only spent $15 and not more. Oh well sounded like a fun thing to try.

Totally agree. Im a rocket scientist and I can't figure out this contract stuff. Guess I should have been a college professor.

Yep.  When you got your degree in jet propulsion and thermonuclear mechanics, you still didnt stand a chance at succeeding in HBD.  I guess none of us ever really stood a chance.

I would hope that one frustrated guy who clearly didn't understand the concepts to begin with wouldn't deter any new owners.

Funny... I'd have thought the (literally) hundreds of addicted owners/users would be a much more significant factor.
