Trade Rape 101 - jrcpga & Clarkson Topic

It was a lot more time spent than I would have bothered to spend.    I couldn't muster the attention span to finish reading it after a few lines.

I joined Clarkson for the current season.  I was hoping to get some additional HBD experience because my two other teams have struggled for the most part and the commish of one of them was recruiting for Clarkson so I signed up on a whim.

At first the world seemed pretty typical of the two I have been a part of.  I do not recall there being much drama through ST and the early part of the regular season.  There were a few rumblings of problems with the Colorado franchise losing 100+ games for the past "X" number of seasons and possibly being an alias.  It didn't appear to be a major problem.  Then some trades come down the pike involving the Boston franchise and all hell breaks loose.

I can live with the owners crying foul and asking for a veto on a deal, I've done it myself a few times.  The drama heated up and now it seems to be on the brink of a civil war.  I personally offered to give jrcpga a $25 GC to just pick up and leave the world so we didn't have to deal with this any longer.  It didn't matter to me whether the deals were legit or not, they simply violated the spirit of the game in my opinion.  Yes, I asked the owners via the forum chat to petition WIS and tell them that 23 owners were leaving if they did not take action.  This was done to get a consensus as to where we were headed.

It seems that there is more of a split between the owners than I thought there would be and it has no degenerated to personal attacks which is uncalled for.  Now, an original owner is being dragged into this and I hate to see that as I feel that an owner that has run a franchise since Day 1 deserves a bit more respect.

I took a team in this world as a challenge and was hoping to implement a different strategy than I use on my other two clubs to see I could be a better owner in HBD.  I figured I'd give it three seasons or so to see if it would work and decide at that point whether to continue or abandon ship.

Now, it looks like I might have a "one and done" on my record if the BS keeps up because it is getting to the point where nothing can be salvaged from this mess.  I can't speak for anyone else but as a person that uses this site for entertainment purposes and pays out of my own pocket (since I rarely win at any of the games), why should I stay in Clarkson when I can join just about any other world?

The HBD experience in Clarkson has probably ruined it for the new owners who came in wanting to learn about the game and move into private worlds later on.  Those are the folks I'm concered about if I am WIS.  The potential customers never returning.  The morons like me who will never leave will simply move on to another world to work on the craft.  That is part of the problem, WIS doesn't concern themselves with these situations because they figure that the owners will simply join another world so they'll keep getting their revenue.  Sadly, that is likely the case.

Enough of my rant.  I just wanted to throw my two cents (or $25) in there.

At the end of the day, I don't blame jrcpga for not leaving if he feels he hasn't done anything.    I've been less than popular in a few worlds.  I felt the owners who wished me gone should just pucker up and kiss my ***.   Telling me to leave is a fine way to keep me around.

In this situation, since I can't see any evidence of alias abuse(admittedly I didn't look very hard), I'd tell the world to F-off and keep my team.   If you don't like the deals I'm making, veto them.  But I'd also advise you not to form a veto bloc as that would be collusion and I'd be more than happy to report that to WifS.

My suggestion:  Quit all the yapping.   Play ball.  Leave if you want.  Veto if you want.  Do what you have to do.   But this entire thread hasn't done a thing to resolve the problem.

Meh.  You don't know the tone of Clarkson.   One might say the entire MG chat is childish and has absolutely no place anywhere.
I'll retract this now.   Seems that most of the world objected to the blog post.    Obviously the tone of Clarkson is not that.

Fair points for the most part.

What the owners need to decide is when we are going to get back into playing ball.  I took on the challenge of turning a team around just as many others have done in this world.  Is the situation with Boston difficult? Yes. Should we pull up our boots and try to turn each of our clubs around and make them better? Yes.

There are about 50 games left in the regular season.  Let's move on with it already.  It is getting tiresome.  I have to deal with my bitchy wife and three small kids which brings enough drama in itself.  I'm here to have fun.  That's what I want this to be about.

Not to be Gloomy Gus but we had a similar situation in HJ.  I joined in S4.   Season 1-3 trades looked a little shady.   One owner had won the first three WS with payroll dropping from 72 to 65 to 48.  He didn't win the WS again until S10 but he averaged about 113 wins.  I won in S11 and S13.  He won in 12, 14, 15, 16.   He's only won less than 102 once(97) since S1.    He built his seemingly unbeatable team in three seasons.   If what's being said is true, jrcpga has had 17 seasons of team-building.  Beating him is gonna take awhile.

Based on today's World Chat in Clarkson, the world's death spiral is getting worse by the hour.

Well done, gentlemen!

I particularly like Robin Hood bailing.

soxfan121 Gamblers 10/13/2010 12:18 PM OK - I'm done. Both of the owners I had lined up to come in and help out have backed out because of the blog post, I'm getting nasty sitemails from people in the forum thread and I've spent too much time and effort on this.
soxfan121 Gamblers 10/13/2010 12:18 PM I'll be seeking out a n00b in the classifieds and turning the team over to them as soon as possible. jrcpga wins - everyone else loses - it's time to cut my losses and move on

I'm guessing it's all bluster and he doesn't leave.

I'm sure he'll bail.   He can't beat jrcpga.  jrcpga won't leave.  What's the next option?   Find a super team in another world.

I will say that if he were truly was trying to help out Clarkson, that thought went out the window the second he started this thread./Thanks sox(:

Well 100% of the owner chat in Clarkson tried to tell this guy how wrong and out of line he is.  I thank you all for that but he doesn't get.

Just to let anyone who doesn't want to read all these pages of bull-**** let me say I NEVER said that they were wrong about jrcpga.  I just said I didn't see it.  And than this clown went on the attack against me.

I have delt with jrcpga for 17 seasons.  I always thought he was a good guy and a good player.  I know he made some great trades for himself but never thought they were out of line to the extent that he was doing anything wrong.  I also never realized that they were mostly with noobs (if, in fact, they were).

I have also tried to deal with cactusmaz and found he was an idiot.  So of course I sway to jrcpga's side.  A big mouth idiot (that blog proves what an idiot he is) with 7 seasons under his belt is going to come to this world and try to banish a guy who is an original owner and basiclly did nothing wrong but play the game well.

If the guy is targeting noobs than alert the noobs, veto the trades.  The rest is bullshit.  Id much rather be in a world with jrcpga than that other idiot.

PT, that blog post says a lot more about cactus than it does you.

And one more thought ..... I know alot of people don't like me and my ways on the forums but I swear Im a different person within the game.  I have 22 HBD teams and 200 seasons.  I tell you this because it proves I LOVE THE GAME.  I play hard and I play fair.  I have never been involved in any wrong doing, always try to help the noobs and (except for 1 or 2 personal problems with another player or 2) have never caused or been involved with any trouble.

If a guy was REALLY trying to help the league and trying to make the league better YOU DON'T attack an original owner of 17 seasons and try to make him leave. My freaking $25 has been there 17 times!  Playing in a league I can't win and a division I have never won, I keep coming back.

Thank you, that was my point.  Im not a homophobe at all so that blog doesn't bother me.  Its the fact that he would write that crap that bothers me.  This is the guy that wants 30 owners to follow him???  Yeah right.
