Forty or so private world teams advertised on the first page of classifieds, not seeing much movement.  Another 30+ available in public worlds.  Maybe those new worlds wasn't such a keen idea.  Time for some free credits to get new blood in???
Is this a every other month complaint? We just heard this about 6 weeks ago and then later the public worlds dropped to 2 openings. The worlds are not always going to be at 1 opening, and sooner or later they will fill and then more openings will occur.
Sooner or later the arctic ice cap will melt
Possibly, but that has nothing to do with this game....The world I commish just rolled over last week and I filled all 4 spots in less than 24 hours after roll over. I have been hearing people complain for 4 years and every season I am forced to recruit, and with extra effort I find filling the worlds to be easy as long as I put forth the effort.
Short of spamming other owners, it's not entirely clear to me what can be done to improve recruiting.  The only tools a commissioner has is to contact other owners, whether they are owners they know or not.  I find spam just results in irritation.  What are you doing for your extra effort?

It's just a matter of keeping an "attractive" world.   It's quite possible that no user in HBD is as disliked as much as I am.   And I have no problems filling two worlds because they're top-flight worlds.

I agree with that - the good worlds advertise themselves.  I am always a little perplexed when commissioners say that it's just a matter of putting in extra effort.

The "extra" effort comes well before you need owners at rollover.

So very true.

Making sure you have owners who take care of their franchises goes a long, long way.

Having a group of owners who represent themselves well in their other worlds helps with recruiting, too.  Good owners like playing with good owners.

I've joined worlds because I like the team and because I like the owners.  I stay in the worlds where I like the owners.

Most owners do not read the forums. To date I have yet to get even 1 new owner from the HBD classified adds. I have got more than half of my new owners from sending out sitemails the details about the league I commish.....While it might be a irritation to you and others, there is many owners who don't feel this way and they end up joining a world that they might otherwise not join because they were unaware of the world.........

If all I did was advertise in the classifieds, I would either never fill the world or go public every season. To date I have never gone public and in the last 15 seasons filled within 24 hours of roll over all but one time.

P.S. I also think its important to start recruiting long before the season is over. I usually have the owners ready to fill the outgoing owners before the season ends.

Openings Update (11/3/10) - (from rolled leagues waiting to fill)
6 public: 23
9 private: 44
Total: 67

To what end is this being updated?

There currently is no easy way see private openings in the system (other than approximating by reading the forums), although It sounds like this functionality is being added.

In the meantime, it seems to me that this private number is high.

I think the question was "What do you hope to accomplish?"

Increase visibility and awareness.

And world peace.
