Arbitration over the cap Topic

If I do not release a guy before the arbitration deadline, then the computer automatically arbitrates him for me but it puts me over the cap, what happens?

They automatically transfer money from your other budgets.

I thought that was the case, do you know which order it comes out of?

Not sure, I would assume it would be prospect budget first since most owners have no coaching money left.

I had a case where the arb signings put me over budget. The simmy automatically raised my payroll budget by $3M and took $1M from 3 other areas.
Here is the message I received: Due to the recent arbitration hearings, it looks like we're forced to raise our player payroll. In order to do so, we had to trim a little bit from the other budgets. I hated to make the changes without your approval, but we weren't left with much choice thanks to the arbitrator and the somewhat questionable budget that was originally set. Bottom line -- we had to increase player payroll by $3,000,000.

Somewhat off topic...

If you release an arb eligible player, what happens with his salary?  Would it be the amount he demanded in arbitration, or last season's amount?  Or neither?

You'll notice that arb eligible players have a salary of $0 before you arb them.

That's your answer.

If you release an arb eligible guy his salary is nothing to you. He then becomes a free agent and goes to the highest bidder. So he doesn't play for free but he also doesn't cost you anything.
