Being Removed from league because.. Topic

I told the commish halfway through the season I would not be returning due to money trouble. I did this as a gesture of respect to the league to allow for time to find a replacement.

Then i made enough reward points/credits to renew and come back from the next season so I decided wanted to return. He had found an owner to replace me and contacted WIS to remove me. According to him WIS has agreed to do this.

I'm not sure why I should lose my team. I understand the new owner loses out but isn't this more of a case of hopefully we can put you on the waitlist and get you in next season?

Just seems weak that WIS is removing me.

(I have submitted a ticket to WIS asking what rationale was behind the decision to remove me.)

At any point did you say you weren't going to play out the season?

I finished the season.

I agree its a tough position, it just sucks to lose my team because I'm poor lol.

Tanner, I feel for you, and I don't mean to make light of your money trouble, but I think it's legitimate to consider that if the only reason you wanted to renew was that you scraped together enough points to get the season for free, there was probably no expectation that you were going to stay past next season. As Mike said, a commish wants to look for owners who have a good chance of staying in it for the long haul. Due to your situation, that seems impossible to guarantee.

Oh, I thought you were getting pushed out part way through the season.

Well heres some of my issues with the whole situation.

1. The commish got so upset that I would dare to pull out after one season (despite what I think is a legit reason, I dunno maybe thats just me) that he didnt bother to ask if it was a temporary issue or longterm.

2. The actual situation is i'm a small business owner who due to an expanding business + holiday season + net 30 days has had to invest my own personal money in the business to meet the demand of this time of year. My money situation will be cleared up soon, in 3 months when the world rolls over again I should have plenty of cash to pay for games.

3. There is no wording in the terms of use or fairplay that says WIS will remove an owner just because the commish found another owner. Just that "a commish can submit a ticket and if there is rationale for removal then they will".

4. Clearly there had to be discuss from the commish and WIS on what the issue was, that being said should WIS not come to me and go "hey did this happen?" for all I know the commish has told them I am a trouble maker in the league and cause fights, which i do not. All that happened was I have run short on cash temporarily.

Either way I'll survive, its just a game but from a business standpoint I'm disappointed at WIS for how the situation was handled.

I would guess that had WIS went the other way and allowed you to stay, the commish would also be "disappointed at WIS for how the situation was handled".

The way this whole situation went down, somebody was going to be unhappy in the end.  It just turned out to be you this time.

I have had several people have the same issue.. They end up returning but they gave the heads up that they may not be able to afford it.  If the commish can't understand that life happens and wants to proceed with the other owner then to me he's a douchebag.. This is not a BUSINESS.. You can have a heart and care about others when they are having problems.

I was in a similar position: the league was in transition to move to next season. I didn't have the money to pay for a new season until the following week..for example 11/30 and I was getting paid on 12/01. I didn't tell anyone in my league that I was having financial troubles and was just banking that I could still re-up in time to claim my team.  Well, when I signed in to sign up, someone else had claimed my team and I was forced to pick a new team. I was devastated as the team I lost was going to be a powerhouse for the next 10-15 seasons. At the end of the day, the league decided that it was my "fault for not obtaining the cash to sign up on time".  I've since accepted my actions and have moved on.  Just like you, I put in a request to WIS but they said it would be up to the Commish and the rest of the league to determine my fate.  The league all said "tough luck...next time, borrow some money".  I've since moved on and currently in the process of rebuilding the new, disastrous team.  As painfully as it sounds, I have moved on.   I suggest the same.

Benny, You didn't tell anyone so that is on you... However this guy TOLD the commish about his problems in advance so they were given a heads up. That was a very respectful move on his part. The least the commish can do here is give him the same respect.

True Tom...I agree.  However, tanner didn't tell the commish that he was coming back next season at the time of his announcement.  Whatever the Commish did to recruit the new owner has to be lived up to his word...even if that means that tanner loses his team.  If the Commish has the heart to give tanner his team back, it's completely up to the Commish.  But that wouldn't fly in the REAL business world.

Like I said in the my first response "This is not BUSINESS"  This is a game.....  The man gave fair enough warning of his issues and gave the commish time to find a replacement. Now, his situation changed and the commish should show the same respect towards him. All the commish has to do is tell the guy who wanted the team that "He is sorry but given the circumstances involved the original owner is going to return."

Let's hope that it all works out Tom.  My earnest desire is that the original owner gets his team back.  I feel his pain and would hate for him to lose out on all the hard work that he's done to build his original team to where it currently stands.

Well said and I agree.  A replacement owner could have been in place IN CASE he's needed.  If he's not needed, what exactly did he lose?  How was the replacement owner inconvenienced?  He wasn't.  He should say "OK no prob" and let the original guy take his team with no issue or drama.  IMO
