Does every team get the same amount of DITR players each season or does it vary?

It varies in quantity and quality from year to year and team by team. It is the proverbial crapshoot, with an emphasis on "crap."

Rarely are they worth anything, and it varies. I've had a season where I didn't get one.

I once had one that made my player worse!

In the 50 or so seasons that I've played since they instituted DiTRs, I've probably had about 75, 1.5 a season on average. Of those about half a dozen became MLB quality players. IIRC, every DiTR that I ever cared about was either a catcher or a reliever - my impression is that since they tend to have the lowest OVRs they tend to make better DiTR candidates.

this is the best one i've seen and he happens to be mine. too bad that, in spite of the ratings, he sucks at the big league level thus far.

This is my 'stud' DITR.  Just hoped the vsL and VsR progressed a little better.  Should still have a decent ML career.

I've had anywhere from 1 to 5 DitR every season.   Guessing close to 100 by now with only 1 making it to the ML squad and that as a backup catcher.  If you get one that actually helps your ML team consider yourself VERY lucky.

Based on this cuys current ratings, he looks like he would be a better than average ML SP. Maybe give up a few too many HRs, but his other numbers should be very good. I wouldn't give up on him after such a small sample size at the ML level.

Off the top of my head, these guys are the best DiTRs I've had.  A common theme is that worthwhile DiTRs always seem to have one flaw that keeps them from being truly good, such as health or duration:

This is the only DITR of mine I can remember making it to the ML. No great shakes, but at least he made it.

85 contact, 0 eye.  That defies logic.

That is logical enough.  Think of Vladi Guerrero, to an extent.  He probably knows the strike zone better than a zero eye, but he can and does swing at pitches that are ~16 feet outside and not only makes contact, but puts them over the fence.

It is kinda silly that a guy who has a zero in a category can't ever improve in that category.  I'm not saying he should go from zero to 50, but why can't it increase a bit over time to maybe a rating of 8 or so?   I've never seen this discussed on the forum in the past, although I'm sure it has been.
