Im new to the game and I was wondering if you have a couple 19 year  old studs in the minors and you bring them up to the Show right away will it negativly affect their growth ?  thanks in advance

If you mean Jerry Leonard and David Plata, leave them in the minors.  They aren't ML ready.  But in answer to your question, they would continue to develop in the majors if you promoted them, as long as they get regular playing time.

Leonard can play in the bigs now.    He's not a stud and that 58 Durability will really limit his playing time.   Plata has no place on a BL roster right now.

I almost wish you could turn off the projected ratings for your own players - like what happens when looking at another world.  Then it makes everything really simple, you place your youngest guys in Rookie, or LowA and promote one step every year.  When their current ratings are good enough to play in the ML, you put them there if they will play.

ADV=0

Once you do this, your brain will easily ignore the projected ratings.

haha, maybe yours does - I have a hard time ignoring the numbers when I am at 0.  I like to see good things!  And then I have to tell myself I am being stupid and to quit making decisions based on projections.

That's what you should be doing anyway.  I never look at projected ratings when making decisions for my ML team, only current.  I don't even look at projections for R5 prospects, because I won't draft them if they're not ML ready.

exactly.  The ONLY purpose of projected ratings is when you acquire the player, be that in the draft, IFA or trades.  I think the one thing that new owners (or even some experienced guys) should learn first is that you play guys in the ML solely based on their current ratings and nothing else.

There are no scenarios where a player's projections will "shine through" for a big game now and then.  Current ratings are what are used in the game simulations.

What's funny to me is that the 0 ADV strategy gets you to play a different game.    It wasn't odd for me to leave a player in AAA until 25/26 because his projects said "He can improve a lot more".    While I still use development patterns to judge where a player will be at maturity, I no longer fool myself into believing that the 5 year pro, 24 year old could still develop 15 more points in contact and 8 more in power.  So I bring up a lot more 21-23 year olds than I used to.

that's what I've learned the most too.  I don't think having $20 mil in ADV scouting did me any good because I thought that I could always reach the projections shown.  But it took me a while to realize that you have to develop the players for them to make their projections (and that everyone follows a similar cycle and when they only gain 1 point over the offseason, they aren't going to gain 10 next season) - which means a steady pattern of promotion and only playing in the ML when ready...which really negates anything ADV scouting tells you.

That's not entirely true.   But, if you're not trading for a bunch of prospects, ADV isn't very useful.

For me, it's pretty simple with my own players.  I know how I develop players(it is different for some owners).  I know how many players I rank for each draft.  If I draft a player I ranked, I feel he's BL material.   I don't need ADV for my guys.   But I have no idea if your first round pick last season is BL quality.   ADV would tell me something about him that I wouldn't otherwise know(because he has no development pattern).
