You keep saying "replacement value players" like you know what sort of pitching is in that world. What team do you run? If the answer is "no", I'll refer you to the following:
Second, if you're not in that world, you have no idea what's available at the end of FA or on the WW.
Fourth, I don't think you know the pitching situation on either team.
I guess it's possible that we have different definitions of "n00brape". Trading two legit, cheap BL players for one prospect(and, if I had to I could argue "a goddam short relief pitcher prospect") isn't n00brape. Neither pitcher is 37 nor are they making big money.
My
tecwrg2 ID has played in 50+ worlds as a mid-season replacement owner. Typically one of the first things I do when I come in mid-season is check the FA pool to see if there are any FA's who are better than the crap I've inherited. What I usually find is pretty consistent. So yeah, I think I know what's typically available and what "replacement value players" are. Probably a little better than you do. This is a season 15 world. Pretty good chance it's mature enough to have a pretty consistent level of talent to the other nearly 60 worlds I've participated in at one point of another.
And I'll say it again, because you apparently aren't getting my point: if booger is trading players A and B to a n00b for a pretty decent ML prospect, when the n00b could just as easily find players A' and B' in the FA pool for roughly the same price
without surrendering a pretty decent ML prospect, then it's n00brape. He's fleecing a good prospect out of the guy.
