backup. and not at ss either. at least not on a good team

Agreed.

Depending on how far the glove develops, he should be able to backup anywhere except for SS and C.  If he can get his glove up to near 80, he'll be adequate in CF.  Lots of plus plays because of the arm ratings and good range, but he'll also drop some balls.

Here are his defensive projections.  Range 92, Glove 89, 88-96 Strength - Accuracy
Offensively: 43cntct, 66pwr, 70-47 L-R, 56eye

Does that change things at all or still just a backup?  Of course assuming he reaches his projections.

Why wouldn't you think of him as an everyday player with those projections?    Do you have some superstud at SS?

I havent been around long enough to have a guy meet his projections.  I dont know how often it happens and if the chances of that happening are good.

depends on how much you value defense at ss. right now he shouldn't backup at ss. if he hits his defensive projections, he'll be good defensively. poor to mediocre offensively, but it's hard to get a true good hitting ss. some people will put a good hitting, 3b rated defensively player as their ss and live with the errors and minus plays. for me, the guy had better hit like a bastard for that to happen on my team.

You asked the question without giving projections.   Anyway, he might reach 80 glove.  I don't think so but it's possible.  Probably 75.  A 75 glove can't play SS.  He should be a fine CF and his hitting ratings would warrant starting in CF on most teams.

Yea, that was my fault.  WHen I initially posted the link, I didnt take into account that you all couldnt see projections.

As I think he projects (not as his projections are), he's an OK utility player, can get 300 AB without embarrassing you too badly, can at least fake any position on the diamond except C and P.  If he's starting for you he's not advancing you towards a championship.  I wouldn't even arb him the first time.

You're the reason people complain about not enough SS/CF.   I doubt he becomes a SS but a guy with 90+ range who knows which end of the bat to hold is hard to find.  That said, I'd probably dump him when he asked for 3-4m.

If he gets close to projections I'd make him my utility guy and use him to rest my starters up the middle on a regular basis. I usually have one guy like this on my teams and that guy gets about 150-200 AB's or more depending how good he is and this guy could probably get close to 300 or more AB's on one of my teams. That said, I usually only use a guy like this until he asks for a multi-million dollar deal in arbitration at which point I release him and try to re-sign him when nobody else will and his demands go down. You can find a handful of guys like this every season at the start or near the end of ST.

Just out of curiosity, wouldn't his Speed rating of 0 make a difference?  Might be a noob question, but can't say I've seen a ML player with a speed rating of 0.  Or is it just a WIS glitch on linking players?

0 speed hits into a lot of DP.

Would you be concerned if there was some user named daeater?

He is a borderline livable backup that could get some  playing time against lefties. He won't live up to those projections, he  is 22 years old and has 2 pro seasons, I doubt he hits in the high 80's in glove, he will probably end closer to 80 and his range won't go up very much either. That 0 speed is very unfriendly, I imagine he will hit into a increase amount of double plays.
