People always talk about record in one run games. It is a popular stat. But if you want to know how good a team is look at record in games decided by 3 or more runs. Good teams in MLB win by more than 3 runs far more than they lose by 3 runs...

Also another intersting stat is that in MLB in 70% of games thw winning team scores as manny or more runs in a single inning than the losing team does in the whole game. I heard it and didnt beleive it. Then I checked the box scores for a month and I was suprised. (and yes i know this is off topic)

I think its funny when HBD meatheads try to discuss sabermetrics.

I think it's funnier when meathead posters can't spell the acronym SABR.

The guy in the red is screaming at you for asking this.  He screams at you no matter what.  He really needs to go away.

This sounds like typical commentator "insights"..."let me tell you, everytime this team scores more runs than the opponent, they will win games!"
am i the only one waiting for this...commentator goes up to head coach before the big game/ press conference...and asks...coach...what do you guys have to do today to win...and have him look the reporter straight in the eye and say...well...if we can find a way to score more than they do...i think we'll win...

Tec, I notice that my gas milage sucks whenever I let the car idle for an hour and a half. Could I get some analysis on that?

I just noticed when I leave the freezer door open, the ice melts.   Should I commission tec to do a study?

You certainly get that a lot from players.

"Well, if we can just execute our game plan and not make mistakes - you know, just do the things we need to do to score on them and keep them from putting runs on the board, I think we'll come out on top."

Really?  Ya think?

A lot of players aren't the smartest.  Commentators are paid to give "expert" analysis on what they're watching.  Dan Dierdorf is actually my favorite at saying a lot of words and actually making no point.

here's one that i have confirmed with accuracy every season: if sergei91 is in charge of a team, don't expect them to win much
3/30/2011 10:13 AM
While that's a fine theory, I think we need to give tec a few days to confirm it.
3/30/2011 10:22 AM
After moments of intense research, I can confirm sergei's claim:
