Demotion after a trade Topic

I realize this has a lot to do with a player's make up and patience. I just traded for a 25 yo SP who has been at the ML level for the past 4 seasons. He never reached his development numbers. If I take him down to AAA after the trade, is there a better chance for him to reach his projected numbers (or at least improve some) or is he pretty much done and I should just keep him at the ML level?

Post the player.

I wouldn't expect a 25 y/o, 5th season guy to improve much either way.

I don't expect much improvement. I was just wondering at which level he had a better chance at some improvement.

If he pitches, he'll improve at either level if he's going to improve.   Being in the bigs doesn't stunt growth.

All other things equal, if your ML coaching is better, logically, he should improve more at the ML level.  Also, I'm wondering if an assignment to AAA after the trade would be considered a demotion, and subject to a demotion penalty.  I don't know the answer to that, maybe someone else does.

I've never gotten a demotion penalty when assigning a player to a lower level after a trade.   Doesn't mean it can't happen, just that I've never seen it in the dozen or so times I've done it.

I've had it happen. If pressured, I could probably find it, but it wasn't recent.
