Am I seeing something wrong? My dick got hard thinking about drafting a SP with 88 OCN and 100/96 splits. With 18 HS scouting you can assume they are pretty accurate.
It also might (or might not) get hard when you fantasize about Minka Kelly and you in a honeymoon suite in Vegas (for which someone else is paying) with a one-week trial supply of a new medication that makes women horny.

The above scenario is an equally likely occurrence to that pitcher hitting those projections, regardless of the $18M in scouting.  The pitcher is going to end up with a low-60s stamina, and all his key ratings in a range between about 72 and 85, averaging high 70s.  He's a 150 IP SP2.

I would guess this league would be fun and you can rack up some career stats in it too since there isn't too much reason to keep a ML ready guy in the minors.

I don't care how many pitchers you have.  No way I'm passing on that guy.  I'm with carnivore, let one of your other marginal guys walk and use that money for free agents.  But you can't pass up on this pitcher.

There are no free agents the theme of the world is for life (no free agency).you cant improve your team through free agency or trade you can only improve through INT FA and draft.

I've listed my team link below.. As you will see my pitching is probably top 5 in the world..  My infielders are sorry.

Texas Rangers - For Life

I'm still don't think I'm passing on him.

And what happens to the free agents that a team doesn't resign?  They just retire?

Also keep in mind that all of my FA will be kept at minimal expense..

Once ST ends any player still left is free game.. We're in season two and there's maybe 5-6 players that are worth the comp picks that will be given up and the player signs instantly so its difficult to bank on geting one of the decent FA's.  Believe me, I would much rather have that dame SP.. He would be an awesome innning eating RP.  As it is I have this guy Jose Alfonso as a long set up guy.

Problem is this is my 3B and this is my SS

It's getting away from the thread topic, but I think Alfonso is being wasted as a reliever.  I understand his 14 durability means he can only drop down to 50% or so to be ready for his next start, but with 83 stamina, he should still be able to get in 5-6 innings every 5th game, getting you 160-180 innings.  Just drop his pitch count down around 85.

Marino will be 35 when that guy is fully developed.  I still take him, draft a defensive SS, then address your 3B issue next year or through IFA.

But I guess if you don't have free agency, you can either go with the 18 y/o shortstop and hope he doesn't get hurt, or rank a 'probably won't sign' player #1 and take the #2 pick next season.

If the rest of your team is ok offensively and your pitchers are now even better, you can live with that guy at 3B.  Hard to have a team of them, but you can live with one.
7/27/2011 3:47 PM
The older SS is a myabe wont sign guy.
7/27/2011 3:53 PM
This team couldve been great if I was able to trade a few SP to fill holes.
7/27/2011 3:54 PM
I find it hard to believe that you can't make it work with elite SP.  Elite SP will cover more flaws in a team than anything else you could acquire.
