Is a 2B who throws left prone to make more errors than a 2B who throws right?

Not errors, assuming he meets the defensive recommendations, but he'll make a hell of a lot more (-) plays than a similarly skilled right-hander.

And won't turn too many double plays.

There are very few left handed throwing players at second, short, third, and catcher in pro baseball history. They suck if put at these positions in the sim as well. Generally if a kid has a good left arm then he is going to be moved to pitcher. It took me a little while to figure this was a trait in the sim.

...and if they can't pitch for ****, there is always the OF or 1B.

I know that you see almost all types of fielding proficiencies in both right and left-handed throwers, but I've noticed that there are never any lefties with SS type ratings.  My guess is that if a young left-handed thrower can throw hard and accurate, the only place for him on a baseball field is pitching.  Too bad for you if you are left handed, can throw well, and can also hit well - you'll probably have to make a choice between CF/RF and pitching early on.

What was the name for the set play where the CF charges hard and receives the throw from the 2B and then goes to first? That one slayed me!

Sorry if this has been posted before. I really don't spend a lot of time in the Forums unless I'm looking for info. Too many jerks here with nothing better to do than trash posters. Thanks for the legit comments guys.

I have seen a couple of HBD players who, if they did not throw left, would be solid "bat-type" SSs; very good hitters with defensive ratings in the high 70s-low 80s.  You can play these guys at 3B and they will be only a few plays below average defensively; to my eye that's a flaw in the sim.  Check out Alex Matos seasons 11-14.  Note that the SS experiment did not go so well (I played him in CF, where he was no great shakes either).

This guy Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Lyle Bolling played for me for a few seasons.  He bats righty, so I mistakenly put him at SS for awhile.  In my first every HBD season.  It didn't occur to me until after I noticed all the negative plays that he was a player who bats right and throws left, especially since he has  "(R)" after his name when you're setting the lineup.

I guess his current owner either doesn't know or doesn't care because he's played a lot of SS since I let him go.

The worst part about a player like that is that all the arm strength/accuracy only hurts you in the long run.  He was a pretty good player, but AS/AA pushed him up the mid 80's OV meaning that he cost way more than he should.  You're paying a premium for a weapon you'd rarely use (the arm).

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Trey Pote   They exist.  Even hit like the weak-hitting SS types.

Yes, it seems they do exist, but are very rare.
