Predicting Arb Year 3 demands? Topic

Robbie Atkins here wants 9.7 mil in Arb in Arb Year 2, the highest I've ever had a player demand, and a 9.0x3 long-term demand. I'd like to arb him this year to keep one more year of control, but I'm afraid of how high his long-term contract will jump in Year 3 when it's already at 9 mil this season. Anyone have an idea on what I should expect?

Lee Benjamin should be a reasonable comp; he wanted 9.4 mill year two of Arb and signed for 9.5 mill per year the next season.

I would trade him...while he is a decent player, he is not worthy of 8M a year or his 88 rating.

I wouldn't say that without the context of how the world plays, position shortages, etc.  That guy would star in one of the worlds I'm in, while being mediocre in another.  Context matters.

I don't quite see why he gets an 88 rating.  Ignore it.

He over produced in Season 13, underproduced in Season 14.  His true line is something in the middle....like Season 12.  He OPS'ed .812 in that season. I would estimate he's a .291-.350-,485 type of guy.  Pretty close to what he gave you in Season 12.

His career OPS is below .800.

He's not worth $9M. At least not worth it to me.  You can find a guy nearly as good for much less and invest the saving somewhere else.

I ended up arbing him. moe, I looked at the FA class, and only a couple of high priced Type A FA were close to what Atkins can provide while playing a solid 3B, so it made sense to keep Atkins. Not to mention that he's several years younger than the other options!
