The bottom line: the best worlds have strong commissioners who are hands-on and attentive to problems as they occur, and screen incoming owners to make sure that they have a solid track record.

I won't preach it but it has to do with the quality of the worlds, IMO.   These worlds that can't fill have allowed themselves to become "unsellable" to the public.   Owners check in, see 2-3 powerhouses, look at the available teams and move in.    Someone looking to play a game on the internet isn't interested in losing for 2 real life years against owners who have spent 4-5 years building teams at the expense of the world.   No one to blame but themselves.

doesn't apply to ABU.  i've been there for 3 seasons now (and yes i suggested bots and am quite amused that anyone took me seriously)..  there are no powerhouses.  there are some people that don't know what they're doing, and others who have reverted to AI, but it's not at all a lop-sided world..  it's just one that no one seems to care about.  i'd say 1 or 2 people were unwilling to part with the world history (rather than merge), and those people have probly left already (so there goes another theory voiced here)..  i think it has to do with owners leaving in bunches..  lots of teams that have left ABU in the last couple seasons are all in Moneyball, and have the same kind of "you suck" WC conversations that used to rule the ABU chat..  people are downsizing, and are deciding to leave the worlds that don't fare as well in some arbitrary world-ranking thread..  ABU is toast, but i like my team so i'll hold onto it until it gets placed elsewhere..

I brought 15 owners into ABU under the "Save a world" program.   I stayed 4 seasons.    I was never able to put a finger on it but there was(and obviously still is) a problem.  

After abandoning the good ship Foxx this season, I've determined that everyone probably was right...some worlds just shouldn't be saved. They'll fill or they won't, and it really doesn't hurt anything.

You still running that program?  I am thinking of having two teams at all times.  Addicted Users as my main. And my secondary team being one that helps save worlds or rebuilds franchises. .

I left before that. I kinda got sick of being on of the only people recruiting and trying to fill a public world, and decided not to do anything to see what would happen this offseason. Not much, as it turns out.

After a couple weeks of sitting there I left. Then this came up...which I can't believe hasn't been shot down...

WifS dropped a "F You" on everyone when frapercraper was caught running two teams and they only took one from him.   That world is crap.

ABU is down to 11 openings.....we're also up to 6 owners with 0 experience and 0 other teams..   things are really shaping up.

No use merging to create more balance, I'd rather win in a tard world.

Perfect example of what is wrong with these worlds.

Yeah, I'll take a lot of the blame. This was a great world.

We also had a world destroying owner in the last season, in what was some nit picky battle with me about how player ratings should work (The gist was that my guys shouldn't hit home runs). I've seen some of you have battles with the same idiot. He'd left his team previously because I "scored to many runs against his star pitching staff." But when he wanted to come back, the rest of the league voted to let him back in (I thought he was a liability and once a season he would have some outburst about my team). Well, that backfired, he was the same discontent with a chip on his shoulder about how I'd beat him down whenever we played (his team was competitive, but if he lost the season series and/or I put up 10 runs on him, he'd go whining to anyone who would listen). 

I think more than anything, that BS caused people  to leave. That's what you want to read is 3 weeks worth of banter about half the league arguing about what caliber a player should be. The dude hits a sim home run, he hits a sim home run. He hits .325, he hits that. Deal with it.  

I've had that team for 20 seasons. Guys I've drafted have retired and went to the hall of fame. To lose all of that because WIS told us they neglected HBD during our playoffs... Yeah, that sucks. To lose it because of some douchebag owner with a bone to pick. That sucks too. 1 ****** season, and rolling at the wrong time... the END OF THE WORLD! 

5/6 years of my time, checking in multiple times a day. My previous job, WIS was included specifically in the reasons they got rid of me. Anyway, this whole damn thing has crushed my spirit to play anymore.  

So, byebye HBD.

I am waiting for MikeT to acknowledge that his "Save our World" program he ran a few years back for ABU was a complete failure...just like everything else he has tried to do.
