Two questions:

1)  Is the fact that, at least for this week and very loosely and relatively speaking, the University of Miami's football program can be seen as a paragon of virtue compared to Penn State's program, one of the signs of the Apocalypse?

2)  If Penn State gets invited to a bowl game at the end of the season, should they accept?

1. No.  I don't think virtue can be compared "relatively speaking".    The U has plenty of problems, and likely just as widespread, as PSU.   They're just different.

2.  No.  Without question, they should outright refuse.  I'm not a "CANCEL THE GAMES!!!" advocate but they do not need to add games to those that have already been scheduled.   I know it's infrequent but schools have turned down bowl bids.   The most recent, that I recall, was SC/Clemson due to a brawl in the waning moments of a game.   Neither team was very good so it wasn't like they turned down a BCS game but both schools announced that they would not go to a bowl within a couple of days.   2004.    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDzl1dJthYo&feature=related

But those were players acting like thugs.

What have the Penn St players done wrong?

Why should the seniors not get to go out with a bowl game?

It doesn't matter if the players have done anything wrong.  The institution of PSU has problems.   Putting football over those issues is why were talking about PSU right now.

Thanks for answering my earlier question mike...could have swore I had already typed in a thank you.

Anyway, why the redline?

I don't control the redlines but the rules are simple.    It's the "Ask the MikeT23 Thread" not the "Make a statement to the MikeT thread".    If it's not a question, Threadmaster Sergie drops a redline on you.

Is it wrong to talk about Ped State and Pedsylvania?

It's probably too early.  I made a joke that PSU would cover up what one owner did to another in trade yesterday.   No response despite what I thought was a witty comment.

WHY DOES SANDUSKY SHOP AT GAP FOR KIDS AT SALE TIME?

When it is okay, will you let me know?   How heavy is the responsibity of being a moral authority?

So if an older woman is interested in a younger guy that makes her a cougar. By comparision then if a older guy is into a younger guy does that make him a Nitty Lion?

I don't believe this has anything to do with the football program other than the fact the the monster at the heart of it was a former coach in the program, and some of the other people involved (Paterno and McQueary) were also associated with the program.  This was a cover-up by University officials to try to protect the reputation of the school itself, not necessarily just the football program.

Do you not agree?

Do you think that, ultimately, it will be BETTER for the Penn State football program to self-impose the death penalty for a couple of years to pull themselves out of the spotlight and give the impression (and hopefully actually do) that they are fixing things in their little fiefdom?

Are you ok?
