If a world makes 6-10 seasons, I don't think I'd elminate it regardless of retention.

As for your alias comment, yeah, Thome found 6 new owners in 3-4 days.    If anyone thinks they're all new to HBD, I can't help you.
it could be the results of this most recent facebook campaign.  I have my doubts, but it all ties together...open a new world, advertise quickly and cheaply on facebook and see what happens.  I imagine if WiS sees an influx of users directly tied to advertising, we'll start seeing more and more worlds open up immediately prior to large ad campaigns on facebook/foxsports/google or wherever.

Branch Rickey rolled on Oct 23.  They had a "no noobs" rule.  They waited and waited, trying to maintain their rules and their private status.   They eventually decided to relax that rule, and one or two noobs join.  They go public and 5-6 more noobs join within two days.  Does that mean that they are aliases?

Force owners to buy a 5 pack that can only be used in the new world.   Make sure all 32 owners understand that one opening in the first 5 seasons means the world shuts down.

I bet that does one of two things:
1.  New worlds never open
2.  Screening is so f'ing tight that it becomes one of the best worlds in HBD

Either way, it's win/win.

Problem solved.  You're welcome.
Not too bad of an idea, but I think it's a bit stringent.  Sometimes real life just gets in the way.  Thome world's creation is predicated upon the stipulation that the world can be shut down after 5 seasons if we haven't retained 75% of the original owners.  I actually kind of doubt that we'll make it, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
I haven't gotten to pages 2 and 3, so I'm sure it's been said, but there's no way they will shut down the world if it doesn't make 75%.  It's not going to happen.

I don't want to tempt fate, but I don't think they will either.

I can't believe anyone would allow you in their world. I really can't stomache that WIS allowed you back and that you continue to act like what you did was a funny thing..

One of them have had a username since 2005.   Another had played a handful of ST SLB "seasons".

That's not from Facebook.

I think there's no incentive for anyone to create an alias to join a public world.  I admit that there is an incentive in this case.  But, the requirement was for 6, and we ended up with 7.  I can see how needing 16 or whatever it used to be would encourage aliases.  My point was to demonstrate that newbs can show up in bunches.  Just because we got a bunch of newbs in a couple of days doesn't necessarily mean that they are mostly aliases.

C'mon, man... you're not an idiot...... re-read what you just posted.

Sure, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are aliases... but what are the odds?

i know this is gonna sound crazy coming from me, but i agree with mike. people have aliases. good owners do it and bad owners do it. are we to believe there are 7 people out there in wis who have never played hbd before who just happened to see the thread for the new world and all decided it was just what they've been waiting for either all this time or 'because wis put an hbd page on facebook'???
if you've never played hbd before, the first season is at a discount (or free if you have a promo code).
let's see, create an account for free, get into a new world, and then see if you can fleece real newbies or get handed a contending team out of the box. or fool people into thinking you don't know what you're doing? and all for something that won't show up under your 'main' screenname/account and you can just abandon/leave after the first season if you get stuck with ****?

I don't know what the odds are.  But I do know that with a requirement of only 6, there was no need for people to create aliases for the world to be approved.  It's not like we had all of the vet spots filled, and we were waiting for some noobs to show up.  Besides, why should I care if there are aliases in there?  That's up to WiS to police that, and I imagine that's why we are still waiting for the world to begin.  As long as none of these "noobs" aren't aliases of people who are in the world already, I couldn't care less.
1/12/2012 3:49 PM
ummm...what if they're aliases of known tankers/team destroyers? would you care then?
