Swirldude can answer to that.  I'm not sure if he turned anyone down or not.

If the thread is any indication, owners who said "I'll take an NL East team" were given teams.   I don't see any rejections.   Most screening processes would have rejected your bro.

He sitemailed me and him looking for explanations about that.  Seems to me like he wanted to find out about the situation.

He certainly did ask me about it, and said after about 3 or 4 days of pondering it he would let me in, but with a short leash.  He didnt want anything like that to happen in his world.  I guess I convinced him that theres no way it would.

Bringing any and everybody into the world with seemingly no rejections does seem slightly worrisome I do have to admit.

To quote Groucho Marx `I wouldn't want to join a club that would have me as a member.'

:)

But in all seriousness.  As was mentioned before if WIS has any intention on sticking to the letter of their law that being the 5 season thing I really cant see this world lasting the full 5 seasons.  There is always turnover in even the best worlds, at least 1 or 2 each season.
Look, I can't help but be disgusted with you. You say that "Bringing any and everybody into the world with seemingly no rejections does seem slightly worrisome..." Uh, guess what? You happen to be one of the most reviled and hated coaches out there, how can you be troubled by that? I think you shouldn't be "troubled" by that because that is the ONLY way any right minded commish would let you in.

EDIT: Correction. No right minded commish would ever let you in.

Yeah, I think this new information makes the screening process worse than no screening process at all.

With plenty of people clamoring to get into a "new world", there's no reason to take a chance.

I think that if I were starting a new league I would have done a lot of things differently.

First I think you should have had any current owner you recruited sitemail you that they do not plan on dropping a current team to get in the world. Totaly unenforcable but hey you at least made an effort.

Second I think your first round of recruiting should have been restricted to owners who have at least 8 seasons in one of their current worlds. You should have gotten 10 owners like this before allowing anyone else in.

After getting at least 10 owners like that you should have tried to get another 10 that have at least 5 seasons in one of their current worlds. That would give you a pretty good chance of keeping 20 owners through the 5 seasons. Add 6 newbies and leave the other 6 for guys who you screen and have proven to be solid owners.

Greeny I do not have the animosity towards you that other owners do I do however understand why they dislike you. I have done a lot of things in my life that were a lot worse than anything you did on here after all it is just a game. However I would not have let you in untill I was down to the last 6 guys and even then I would not have let you in without shobob telling me that he would send me GC's for any seasons less than 5 that you stayed. I hope you use this opportunity to help this world as much as you can and perhaps redeem yourself somewhat.

crickett, those are interesting ideas for world creation. That world could become almost immediately credible, and I like your line of thinking.

I actually do believe your intentions were not malicious, that in your own twisted way you were trying to make a point.

But seeing that you did what you did, I would not feel 100% comfortable that given another perfect storm of circumstances, that you wouldn't do it (or something similarly as damaging) again.  To try to prove another point.  As a commish, that's just not a chance I would want to take.  And I'm not sure why any other commish, knowing the facts, would want to take that chance either.  Especially in a new world that's going to be under scrutiny.

greeny don't take what I said the wrong way. My message is everyone makes mistakes in life and frankly yours was not that big a deal in the overall scheme of life. I belive in 2nd chances and redemption and if you knew me personally you would know why. My point is simply this. Understand why people are angry and accept it. Do everything you can to do the right thing in the future and this will pass. Someday people will be saying hey greeny is in our world and he has proven to be an outstanding owner but that will only happen with time and effort from you.

So you're a current con?

I think he threw a hissy fit.   And, when he found that no one agreed with his complaint and WifS' response, he created another story.  That doesn't mean he'd do something similar again but, as far as I'm concerned, it won't be in my world.   But all that's not the point.

Why, in a world that supposedly will be disbanded if more than 8 original owners leave before summer of 2013, take a chance on someone like that?  If I were commish, I wouldn't accept me under those circumstances.   I'd fill my 5 season commitment but I'd probably **** a few owners off over the next 15 months.   Maybe they leave.

And I say that because you can't really enforce any rules if breaking the rule means expulsion.   SImply because every original owner you lose is a step closer to extinction.     So, someone like me who hates tankers, would call a spade a spade when tanking starts.
