Draft strategy ... 2B vs. risky pitcher Topic

I've got the 2nd overall pick and there is a stud pitcher most likely going #1 overall.  There is another pitcher who is also very good but he "probably won't sign ..." so I either take a chance on him or draft a 92 overall 2B.  My team is struggling so I will most likely have a top 5 overall pick again next year so would you ...

1) Skip the risky pitcher and take the 2B?  His splits are good across the board.
2) Rank the pitcher higher than the 2B and if he signs then great.  If not then plan on having 2 picks in the top 5 next season.

If you like the 2B, take him.  You don't know what next season's draft class might look like.

Depends on the ratings of both. If the pitcher is a true #1 SP, he's worth it if the 2b isn't a perennial all star.
Tat said, if he really gets to 92 it's likely he should be #1
How confident are you in the projections and you ability to assess talent?

Also, how do you know the other pitcher is definitely going number 1? He might not be on the other teams draft board.

Can you post current and projected ratings for us?

I'm 20/20 for scouting so pretty confident.  The guy in front of me has a lot invested in scouting as well so I would be surprised if he didn't take the other pitcher.  I will have him rated #1 on my board though so these 2 would be #2 and #3.  70 makeup for the 2B and 77 makeup for the pitcher.

Actually, the #1 pick has 16 in college and 14 in high school.  The highest rated pitcher is a high school guy so who knows.

What is the defense on the 2bman? L/R/S?
He looks like the pick.

I would go 2B as your #2, but don't be too surprised if you land the #1 SP you were talking about.

Take a 92 guy.  He's 92!

Yeah, I think I'm leaning towards the 2B now and I'm not entirely giving up on the #1 pitcher.  The guy lacks depth in the minors at middle infield so he might very well take the 2B instead.

Thanks to all for the help.

Do the current ratings vary based on scouting or only the projected ratings?
