Hello everybody. I'm 34 games into my first season in the first world I signed up in. I play in the NL, at Comerica Park (2,-2,3,-2,-2). http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=3499384 Athur Stairs is driving me nuts. He gives up runs almost nightly and has cost me huge in more than a few games. I like most (wish he had a third pitch) of his ratings and he has a great rubber arm, I have his rest settings at auto rest at fatigue and he only pitches when 100%. I've been going with a setup by commitee and I follow Deano's (saw his videos, don't want to short change the others that subscribe to this theory) logic on ensuring you get the most quality innings out of your quality pitchers. Stairs could throw for 180-200 innings if he stays healthy and get batters out like his ratings suggest he should.
I can't figure out the regression in his numbers from when he was 23 yrs old to now. His ratings have only increased and my defense is (all stats are for NL): 3rd fielding % .987; 3rd fewest errors; fourth in PO, only 7th in assists; 1st in + plays; fewest - plays; sixth in CS%; T2nd in fewest passed balls; 3rd in errors + minus plays.
Any of the vets have any suggestions on how to get Arthurs A** in gear?
HBD is notorious for this kind of thing. Ride him out, DO NOT trade him just because he isn't doing well 33 games into the season. That guy is an absolute stud, will easily throw close to 200 innings a year.
I had a better RP start off the season with a 6 ERA after 40 IP. After 140 IP he has around a 2.8 ERA now
There's an owner in one of my leagues that regularly loses 100 games a year (for about 12 seasons), the season after he won 90 games and went to the playoffs, he traded away a 26 year old Cy Young winner, who won the Cy Young in the previous season. His reasoning was the guy was off to a bad start, so he must be worthless. Yet he won the Cy Young the year before, those kind of short-term quick decisions are what wreck teams.
