At least you can see the OVR of a player when he was drafted in the Development Report page.  But that's all we get.

thanks, that does help looking at it. And it looks like drafting from a prospect's current ratings is a real crap shoot. I have guys in my system that developed over 30 points starting in the low 40's, and guys that i drafted (and kept a watchful eye on) that only improved 19 points with a starting point at 60.

You're right, of course, but the silence is because there is nothing to say. Perhaps make a comment in the Suggestions forum, and someone from WIS might see it.

As a work around I make a note for the player when I acquire them of some key ratings so I can look back.  Doesn't help if you didn't draft or sign the player originally though. 

Its pretty easy to do screen grabs of your top draft picks or INTs and just save them as a .jpg.  I started doing it a couple seasons ago.

While I don't disagree, there's really no need.   Players don't develop "on pattern" in their first season.   Could have something to do with their signing dates.   But you still know if he was the 53rd pick or a 9m IFA.   It's unlikely that he'll be a BL player in his 2nd season.   So where he started doesn't really matter a whole lot.  You should start getting a feel for where he'll be halfway thru his 2nd season.

right, but it does matter when you're looking at the amateur draft with bad scouting, right? You have no (or little) point of reference within the game without the original ratings.

Since I don't fully understand what you're saying, I'll just tell you what I do.   I rank everyone I think could have a BL career.  Better players at the top(obviously).   After the draft, I make a note of what pick those ranked players were when I drafted them.   After a couple of seasons, I start removing the notes if it's apparent they won't be BL players.  If they aren't BL players or won't be BL players, I don't care what their original ratings were. 

i guess what I'm trying to do is look at the current rating of amateur draft picks, and try to predict if they'll be big leaguers independent of their projections. And since you can't look back at what current MLB players original rating were, it's tough to do precise analysis.

That's one of the drawbacks of 0 ADV.   It's a lot more work, and not very precise, when trying to evaluate young players on other teams.     My 53rd pick may be fantastic but the dumbass who picked 11th could have screwed it up.    You can always go back and see how well he's drafted and make an educated guess from there but that doesn't mean he didn't F one up.

Now that I think about it, this is a good reason to NOT allow the viewing of drafted ratings.   If you want to acquire players without a development pattern, pay for ADV.

no, I mean looking at your current prospect list for the amateur draft and trying to deduce ML talent by looking at their current ratings. Since established players original ratings aren't listed, you can't view full progression accurately. For instance, how many 18yo with 47 overall develop a full 30 points to a 77? How often does a 19 yo 60 overall only develop 10 points? You can't go back and look at this stuff. 

Yes, you can.   You've already been told where to find it.
