Best way to progress a 22 year old Topic

My #1 draft pick this year ended up being a 22 year old-- is it wise to start him in rookie ball like I would an 18 year old, and progress him basically the same way (AAA by the time he needs to be Rule 5 protected) ? My best pitching coach is at High A, but my coaches at RL/LoA aren't terrible, just average.

The prospect in queston is starting at 63 ovr.

Any tips?

I'd suggest that you start him in whichever league has your best coach.. I wouldnt add him to AAA unless you plan on bringing him up to the ML in 2 seasons.   Maybe AA for 1.5 seasons AAA for 1.75 unless you need him sooner.

I hope for your sake that he wasnt the #1 overall.. I dont see a 22yr old gaining 20+ pts in OVR in the next 4-5 seasons.

Id start him in LowA and promote him to HighA at the end of season. Thats a partial season in LowA, full season in HighA, full season in AA, 20 games in AAA, promote to ML.

High A with the good pitching coach.

He was my 19th pick. I needed a SP and he was the best available

Project when you'll have him in the BL.   Work it backwards.

1 season-AAA
2-AA
3-HiA
4-LoA/RL

Assuming you're talking about Moises Zorrilla, I'd put him in High A this season (much better PC) ... AA next season .. then AAA until you decide to call him to the majors.

thanks for the tips guys..  I started him 1 game at LoA by mistake, but I just promoted him to HiA where I will keep him the rest of the year

My indecisive nature just Promoted him to High A, then I changed my mind and demoted him back to Low A, only to change my mind again and promote him back  to High A... that transaction of promotion/demotion/promotion in a ten minute span won't hurt his development, right?

He's screwed.

It'll hurt a little... don't do that!! lol! ... but he's young enough that by next season it'll all be forgotten.

Depends on how many times he had to pack or unpack.  And how many bus tickets he had to buy.

well 10 minutes in HBD time is 30 minutes in real time, so if this all happened in 10 minutes its not likely he bought any bus tickets, let alone actually gotten on the bus.  He's probably just thinking that you have a wicked sense of humour!

He is best at hi A since that is where your best PC is.

there is such thing as a demotion penalty, so you gave your guy a penalty for nothing.
