The Atlanta Tanks - Guinness Team Rebuild Topic

They can't yank your team.   You paid for it and you haven't broken any rules.   Good luck with it though!

So you're not taking me up on my $20 for 42 win offer?   Too bad.  That would be much more interesting, at least to me, than making a run at .500.

If it goes badly, I know I have that to fall back on.

Where did I say he was a tanker? In the last section of the bolded text i said I think he just didnt put much into the team the past few seasons. MWRs dont take into account whether an owner is inept or tanking--nor should they. For me, its an added level of realism. A GM needs to have at least a very limited amount of success at the major league level to keep their job.

Not to be nit picky or anything, but the name of the thread kinda leads one to believe that Atlanta tanks...

If I were the dude in question Id be more then a bit annoyed at that, even if my winning record has gone into the toilet for the last several seasons...

However I do believe that MWRs are a good thing and not just to make it harder to tank, but to keep the quality of ownership (or their efforts) at a certain minimum.

wow 12 teams!?!?!? no wonder he cant keep his teams on the winning side!  that is a full time job trying to keep 12+ teams competitive!  me thinks Phil has too much money, and not enough time...

My team name is Atlanta Tanks. His franchise wasn't even in Atlanta. I have no beef with the original owner. I've had stretches that were just as bad awhile back.

They're replacing the commish, everyone seems to want philbar to get his old team back, and you have zero history with the world. Why stay? Get out and let them have their "it's my team, I'll do what I want" world with no rules.

Im staying because I picked this team, and paid for a single season specifically to try and turn around the team that I felt was in the worst shape. Ive done nothing to hurt the world, and whether I decide its a world I want to stay in long term or not. The team will be in better shape than when I took it over.

Plan A wouldn't work anyway. Tankbo2000 already has a head start on you and the league has rallied behind him too. They say his strategy is very smart (losing for several years and then turning around and winning big for several) and when I suggested that he may be tanking I was called a "rogue sheriff".

and the 3 seasons before he took over, they lost 99, 109 , and 132.

Looked at last years budgets and theres lots of craziness (Including your $20 million player payroll). This league is interesting, to say the least. And really looks more like a public world than a private world.

I wouldn't go anywhere near that world.  If those guys all enjoy having a freeforall, that's their choice.  Not for me.

It IS a public world. The last commish went public to fill every year and we don't have rules. So basically the two things private leagues have to offer, screening and rules, we've rejected. Its stupid.

One of those guys prior to Shambo didn't even sign his amateur draft picks. Thats what happens when a commissioner lets a newb in and then doesn't bother communicating with them.

It's really beyond me why the world is so adhamently defending this owner. He has a ton of teams, all of them are horrible. I keep heariong that he has so much invested in this team and he should have the chance to turn them around. Currently he has 12 teams, and all of them are on pace to lose 90-100+ games. Id be shocked if he's an active owner, and there would be nothing to suggest that he'd turn the team around or even make the effort to do so. I really think the movement to defend this owner was more out of dislike for boogerlips and that they dont really see Philbar as a positive contributor to the world.
