I had an absolutely bullshit contract that BOTH you and Tec (and many other owners) said was made to intentionally undermine the team. It sounds awfully similar to my ears. Except that obviously the contract that I inherited was unquestionably f'ed up, the SP in this situation isnt really all that bad, and Id say for the first season at least is worthy of that contract. Maybe not for 5 years though...

In the Mantle case, it was an "F U" contract extension issued to an aging and undeserving player, accompanied by releasing four other quality players with multiple years left on their contracts, by a disgruntled owner at the end of the season when he was informed that he was being booted for violating world rules.
In this case, it was a five year contract issued during the FA period during open bidding for a quality player. The signing owner left after one season and the new owner who inherited the player decided that he wanted to get out of the contract.
