So admin cuts this contract as easy as pie, but they didnt want to cut the contract that nearly everyone including and especially the commish TEC says that was an obvious and deliberate  stab at undermining the team and the world, and yet here they are willingly cutting this contract for a guy that is clearly still a very very good player?

Im not trying to paint myself as a hero, Im just saying that their policies have gotten a little looser.  Maybe in this case it was a little bit too loose.  It may or may not be a coincidence.  It doesnt matter to me if it is or isnt.  Im just glad that WIS is now willing to look at individual cases and take action if the commish asks for it.  Though I believe that a majority of owners should vote in favour of the contract change in addition to the commish asking for it, for WIS to make that change...

Really not even vaguely similar?  he complained about a contract that he thought was bullshit, and apparently had the backing of the commish and several other owners.  I had an absolutely bullshit contract that BOTH you and Tec (and many other owners) said was made to intentionally undermine the team.  It sounds awfully similar to my ears.  Except that obviously the contract that I inherited was unquestionably f'ed up, the SP in this situation isnt really all that bad, and Id say for the first season at least is worthy of that contract.  Maybe not for 5 years though...

You're giving low level support a lot of credit for "policy" compliance.   Some schlub named Peggy said "Oh, OK, we can do that" and then someone higher up said "WTF are you doing?"    My guess is the clown who shortened your deal isn't employed by WifS any longer.  And, in all likelihood, Peggy won't be around long either. 

But, yes, I guess there is some similarity.   Dumbass takes a team.  Dumbass didn't look at contracts.  Dumbass sends a ticket to CS.  CS does Dumbass a favor.

In the Mantle case, it was an "F U" contract extension issued to an aging and undeserving player, accompanied by releasing four other quality players with multiple years left on their contracts, by a disgruntled owner at the end of the season when he was informed that he was being booted for violating world rules.

In this case, it was a five year contract issued during the FA period during open bidding for a quality player.  The signing owner left after one season and the new owner who inherited the player decided that he wanted to get out of the contract.
