Yeah, the only correct solution here is to disallow trading once the WS begins.  I don't really think the OP or WIS is all that much to blame, but it wouldn't hurt for WIS to put such a safeguard in given the unfortunate possible outcomes.

IIRC, you cannot update secondary positions when the WS begins.   Seems silly that you can offer trades within that time frame.

You can't even update secondary positions when *playoffs* begin, unless it changed in the last couple months and I didn't notice.

I sure hope it did change, because that's always annoyed me a bit.

I do think you can make roster moves until the bitter end.  I'll check in a few days in Mantle.

That could be, zbrent.   I know I've signed some picks/IFA late in the season to spend prospect budget and wasn't able to assign secondary positions.  It very well could have been in the playoffs and not the WS.

No, it's still that way... as soon as the reg. season ends. Drives me friggin' crazy. But then I tend to change players' positions frequently.

What's been lost as this subject continues is that the player's ratings, projected or otherwise, has nothing whatsoever to do with anything. There are two issues: (1) owner (and not a newb) taking responsibility for doing something dumb, and (2) WIS allowing trades or anything else to continue after the WS ends. WIS's action is dumber by a mile, but it didn't start a thread to bring attention to it.

I should think the obvious outcome in this kind of situation is that the trade gets nullified automatically if its not completed when the WS ends.  As though the trade never even happened.  And I think turning trades off when the WS starts seems to be an easy fix to this...

Something just occurred to me so I checked.   Here's an interesting fact:  Trade was completed at 3:03 PM.   Games are not played on the 3 PM cycle.     IOW, there was time to assign this player.   It just wasn't done.

I think we can shut this thread down now.

It occurred to me because trades process after games are played.    So it seemed like the deal would have been nullified when the WS did end.

That's a good find.  The original poster played with fire and got burned.  Can't let WIS take the rap at all on this one.

Just another "I screwed up, WifS should fix this" thread.

A good theory...unfortunately it's incorrect.

If you're responding to me, there's nothing incorrect about it.

The trade completed on a half-cycle.   I assume the WS ended on the next full cycle.   Something was sitting "right" about this and greeny's post made me realize what it was.   Trades complete after games are played.    If the WS ended and the trade was completed on the same cycle, there's a bug.   That isn't what happened.

It's also a bad on CS for not knowing this and actually spending the 16 seconds of research it took me to figure it out.   They pulled their normal "There's nothing we can do" move.

Yes, the catch is a game-changer, re the original complaint. But four hours isn't much for many owners ... I know, Mike, you're here every four minutes, but most people aren't, nor should they be expected to be. Isn't post-season award voting shut down before WS game 1? Trades should be, also. For that matter, so should the WW and anything else that takes more than a cycle to accomplish.
