Did looking that up cause more pain than watching the Raiders last night?

No.  That was cruel and unusual punishment.   Two good plays by McFadden to make me think "THIS IS HIS YEAR!!!" when I know damn good and well that he'll get hurt before game 6.  Palmer with an INT to make me think "Sure hope McFadden doesn't get hurt" when I know damn good and well that he'll get hurt before game 6.   Leinart playing which made me appreciate Palmer.  Pryor playing which made me appreciate the invention of the remote.   Our defense didn't give up much but I know that's because Dallas sucks.  Go Gamecocks!!!!

Is watching an NFL preseason a waste of time on the level of watching a 3rd division soccer match?
8/14/2012 12:18 PM
Pretty close.  I usually watch a little of the Raiders because of all the new faces.   I hate fans who say "I'm a fan of so and so" then can't name anyone on defense.

How does the SIM determine when to bring in the A or B relievers? Last game, I was up 4 in the 7th. To me, that seems like a spot to bring in a lesser guy and save my ace reliever.

A bit vague as in "wide margin" but from the help:

Setup A/B - Setup relief pitchers are the first to come in when a pitcher is removed late (generally during the 7th or later) in a game that is still in doubt. These are usually relief pitchers who are only capable of pitching an inning of relief at maximum effectiveness. Their appearances are usually higher than any other pitching role, while they may not pitch as many total innings as starters or long relief pitchers. Unless settings in the Edit Players Settings page dictate otherwise, the setup A pitcher will be given first priority to enter a game when this situation arises and the score is still close. If there is a wide margin in the score your setup B pitcher will have a better chance of appearing in the game. If a setup pitcher must leave the game during what is still a setup relief situation, first replacement priority will be given to another setup relief pitcher. Setup pitchers are intended to bridge the gap from starters to closers.

I would assume the sim looks at 4 runs as a possible one swing of the bat.

Could "an NFL preseason" be replaced by "the Raiders" without changing the answer to this question?

Yeah, I think so.

This one left me scratching my head;  Picked up this fella Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Kenneth Borowski   He threw 50 pitches in his 2nd outing and he ended up about 90(100) , fresh enough to rest the AM cycle, pitch the PM cycle.  Then threw 51 pm2 and was completely gassed, down to like 25(35) health.  Sup with that?   Did he really put a lot of effort into that one extra pitch?

That's bad logic in my opinion. 4 runs is one swing if the bases are loaded. And up 4 late with the bases loaded I'd want my top relief guy in. Not starting the 7th with a 4 run lead. Do you agree?

Low DUR pitchers need more time off between outings.

Yeah, I think it's poor logic.   SuB puts a couple of guys on and then SuA cleans it up.   However, SIMMY does NOT want to use all your pitchers in a game.  It would be pretty frustrating to see all your SU at 89(100) after a 9 inning game.

Was Melky cheating when he was a Yankee?

Cheating me out of my money!!!!!

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Andres Zumaya  has been hit awfully hard.  (  Playing in front of the leagues best D, with a 91 PC catcher in 3/4th of his starts.  )  Worst stats from any starter by a wide margin.  Is it because of the low 2nd pitch?

That looks very random to me.   Giving up a lot of homers with an 80 GB.  His walks are pretty high for an 82 control also.   Could be bad luck or just facing some line-ups with big power/high eye.
