So if I have a switch hitter going against a left handed pitcher whose splits are say 75 v R and 60 v L, why wouldn't my switch hitter hit lefty against him even though it's then lefty on lefty?

Because the engine doesn't do that.

There is no way for you to tell if he did or didn't.

What evidence do you have that suggests that he DOESN'T hit lefty against that pitcher?

It would also then depend on the hitters capabilities versus R/L.  I think the engine just hits opposite regardless.

Good point.

His batting rating vs. L assumes he is hitting RH.  He has never been evaluated hitting LH vs LH pitching because the occurances are few a far between where a pitcher would have opposite splits.  He very well could be a 5 as a lefty vs. LH pitching, which is why he became a switch hitter in the first place.

WIS says: "It is always assumed that he (switch hitters) will bat opposite of what the pitcher throws."

Here ends the reading.

You know what happens when you assume, right?
