Factors Determing Number of DITR's Topic

Has anyone studied what factors may result in a franchise receiving fewer or more DITR's at a time?

(I tried a search of this forum for: DITR factors, got nothing and decided to ask. One is attacked for who knows what in these forums, so that is my plaintif defense.)

Being Commish helps. Just ask rls :)

Someone else will know this, but my recollection is that the potential pool of DITRs is culled from draft picks signed after a certain round and with potential overall ratings below a certain number. Some owners sign fewer draft picks than others, relying instead on tryout camp players and minor league free agents to fill their minor league rosters.

I don't think it has anything to do with draft picks; I've had plenty of tryout camp DitRs.  Not that that's a good thing.

Just from my observation, I think it's a rare, random event (~2-3% per prospect per year) among all prospects 24 or under with "true" projected OVR less than a certain number, which I think is in the high 50s.  I have tried to rank players higher for the draft with projected OVR in the high 50s who for whatever reason (usually low DUR or ST) would become valuable after a DitR, but no player I've ever drafted for that reason has been lucky enough to get one.

If I'm not mistaken that number is 50OVR.

I can't recall ever having a player over 50OVR get a DITR.

You won't get any without any active teams.  That much I can promise.

Are you sure?  Have you NOT had any active teams in order to confirm?

No, I think it's high 50's.

Cool, now I'm going to spend all day trying to find that number...

As to whether or not players just drafted can get a DITR. The answer is definitely yes.

Are you talking current ratings or "true" projected ratings?

True projected OVR.

And I may want to reevaluate my answer.

Very small sample size, but I looked at handful of guys who recently received DITR bumps in one of my worlds, and looked at the projected OVR rating that my $20m draft scouting budget saw them at when they were prospects.  Of the nine guys I was able to match up, the highest projected OVR (with $20m scouting budget) was 51.

The "high 50's" number that I stated earlier was from my casual observations with lower (and therefore less accurate) scouting budgets,

I'm going to continue to keep looking at this in all my worlds going forward.

Projected should be irrelevant to the discussion.

Why?  Projected is a factor in whether or not a player is a candidate for DITR.  It seems quite relevant.

He's not talking about the projections that we see based on our scouting - he's talking about the ACTUAL potential in the system for the player.  If projections didn't factor in, there'd be nothing stoping a stud HS'er you just drafted that still has a low OVR from getting the DITR bump.

Because projections, even with 20m, are not 100% accurate.
