A weird new trend? Topic

Simple, you start showing respect and tolerance so will I but keep writing your eloquent criticism. I will keep answering... regardless if it's you or anyone else... Nothing personal, just I can't stand some dubious comments you make and the impact they might have...and not many people can tell you anything without you LISTENING and putting ATTENTION. And If i have a better record vs the 3 top championship getters (Felonious, You, 98) does it make me a better owner? No, it doesn't. But neither your 50+ championship make you better than me... or anyone for that matter. ..

So, it's settled.  This is a totally unrealistic glitch in the SIM that owners will abuse in order to win.  Some won't care, but others will hate it.  Yada, yada, yada.  Talking about it isn't going to change it, and neither is WIS, so everyone should just let it go.  Of course, on this site far too many people seem to have the need to get the last word, so I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon.  Soooooo glad it was brought-up.

Speak'n of trends, has anyone seen this trend beside me. I play about 5-7 teams at a time and for the last 6 months I've noticed if all my teams win in the am they all lose in the pm and visa versa wrt am/pm. It's really ******* me off, to the point that 1) if I win all my games I don't even check the next games, and 2) i'm being rather harsh with those punks in admin. Tried to run "it's coincedence" by me, I told them that's a weak excuse try again. We're talking 10-12 times..coincedence, my ***!!!

I answered the OP with an honest answer.  I answered your answer in which you quoted me.  You have your opinion, I didn't say your opinion was wrong, I just said that I have never - not once - seen it win a championship in a league that I'm in.  A good reason for that is maybe that I win the championship in one out of ever 3.5 leagues I'm in.  I've had it tried against me many times.  I'm not offended by it - I thank the owner for the free win where now I only have to win 3 of the next 6 instead of 4 of the next 7.  What's really fun is to know how to counter this strategy and watch it flop in an owner's face.

I'm sorry if you can't stand some of my "dubious comments", but that is your problem.  My only intention when giving advice on these forums is to give concrete, 100% accurate advice - not mislead owners.  I personally can't stand to watch people give bad advice... some new owner comes by, reads some bogus stuff written by an owner who hasn't actually figured out how the engine actually works, then grows frustrated when they don't get the results they think they should get.  So any time you or anybody else blasts bullshit as truth, I will comment.  I will comment respectfully up until that moment when treated with disrespect.

If your intention is to mislead people so that you can beat them, then I can see how you would be concerned with the impact of the things I say.  If your intention is to help the community get better, then quit talking until you actually learn a few things.  Your so-called success against the top 3 championship winners is not evident.  The only league I can recall playing with you in the last 6 months is the parallel progressive league.  The last season, your team vastly outperformed mine.  Congratulations.  I have some questions for you:

Did you win the championship that season?
Have you ever won a championship in that league?  I did.  In fact, who finished higher in the overall results?  Hmmmm...
Have you ever won a championship in a league that I have been in?

Let's say that you have kept track and you do have the head-to-head record against me or felon or whoever.  What does it matter?  Say you can go 6-2 vs me in a season but don't win the ring... you think you're better than me but can't get passed the other 22 owners?  I don't care if I go 0-8 versus someone as long as I win the 12-16 games that matter.  And I've won those 12-16 games more than anybody else except for that one owner with 5 aliases... I'd say my 55 (currently - not done yet, still tons of free teams yet to play) rings makes me better at this sim than most.  The fact that my ratio is so good backs that up.  There are many owners with much fewer rings that I would put in the top tier of owners in the sim, but most of them actually compete in the most competitive leagues and show respect to others.  I've seen them and played with & against them over & over.  All I can remember about you is your smug, "I'm better than all of you though I have never proven it" attitude, your inflammatory comments, that one progressive team you won a few games with & when you got thrown out of the ODL, BTW, I didn't really care about your abusing of the rules... I cared about how disrespectful to me and many other owners you had been over the past few month.  You could've apologized, but you took a stand and are still being disrespectful.

But whatever - that's the past.  You complain that not many people can tell me anything without me listening..  What is your point?  I think the far greater complaint would be for me to not listen.  Not listening leads to ignorance, a trait you seem to hold in high regard.

I'm done with you.  You're not worth the time or energy.  The only reason I've wasted as much of it as I have is because I have some fundamental flaw that believes people are worth a ****.  Most prove themselves worth a ****.  From this point on, feel free to mislead anybody into anything you want.  My free team supply should run out in a few months, and then I'm gone... though the problem is, I keep winning so I keep earning teams.  Good luck in the sim & in life.

It's unfortunate that some people will do whatever it takes to win, no matter how "wrong" (unrealistic?) it may be.  That's just a reflection on how f'd-up our society has become.  Of course, if WIS actually gave a sheit about it's NBA  SIM customers, they would have eliminated the loophole when it was discovered.  Plenty of blame to go around.  It is what it is, and it isn't changing, (like a lot of other wrong / unrealistic things about the SIM) so we should all just deal with it and move on.
Well said, all3--that about sums it up. This totally unrealistic "strategy" goes totally against the spirit of the game, but I guess some people are not in it for the fun factor and will manipulate the sim any way they can just to win. Hell, I won't even use clones. But then, I'm just playing for the fun of it.

When I first started playing wis BB I was told, in no uncertain terms, that tanking now to win later was called...CHEATING. This is simply picking low hanging fruit, a newbie can figure this tactic out in no time flat. I view it as an indictor of a limited skill set. In OL's it may work, in the higher cap leagues your just giving away wins.

Smokey, there's nothing in the Terms of Service against it.  People may frown on it, but do they pay for your team?  Unless it is outlawed in the particular theme league you're playing in, it's an allowable, if unrealistic, strategy.  If I was convinced playing a couple of guys an extra 8 minutes would make it easier to win four out of six than to win four out of seven, I would probably do it (in leagues that didn't outlaw it).  Statistically, your opponent is much more likely to win 3 out of 6 than you winning 4 out of 6, which is what you're doing when you use the strategy in a playoff series (not to mention the possession penalties that occur with this strategy & that fatigue really isn't that big of a hamstring).  There are ways to build using this strategy in mind, it comes back to the most basic thing for me:  Winning 4/7 is easier than 4/6, and if you won 4/6 tanking, you probably would have won 4/7 without it.

In the end, it comes down to the fact that I'm not paying for anybody's teams, so I won't tell them not to use the strategy if they don't want to.  I'll warn you why it's not a good idea, but if you want to, by all means - please use it against me.

Pops says it's somewhat realistic, sort of but not really

smokey57: don't know if this applies to you, but make sure you set your line-ups before 11:00 eastern time. Games may not start until 1:00, but if you don't set your line-up 2 ours prior, there is a good to great chance you will lose most or all of your pm games

Depends where you live, too. I'm the Mountain Time Zone, or "The Time Zone That America Forgot" (LOL) and afternoon games are played at 12 noon here, or 2 PM Eastern time.
