do you mean has anyone noticed that that posting was a generic all forums notice regarding site maintenance having nothing to do with the NBA sim?

because the last critical news posting specific to the NBA sim was actually seble in 2007 freaking out over my classic "Tips for Rookies" parody that listed the opposite of everything you want to do when building a team but that was so painfully obvious that you'd have to be as dumb as seble to take it seriously

highlights included such notes as

when drafting a player don't worry about fg% as long as he takes a lot of shots

and

no one worries about rebounds or turnovers, neither should you

I think it comes down to the fees..I been on this site for 13 years have played 25 seasons of football,30 seasons of basketball, and 314 seasons of baseball. Its seems for the prices that they are charging the baseball seasons I think you get more bang for our buck..They need to redo they pricing..Say $30.00 for a 6-pack for the basketball or so kinds of deals to get some new blood, and to keep the old blood also...

I'd like to play - problem is your leagues sims games once in the morning and once at night. i work during the day. Someone asked before if there are other sites like this, do you know of any?

I'm a new owner.  Been having decent success with Sim Baseball Open Leagues so I decided since I like Basketball and all to join.

Made the playoffs with both of my first 2 teams, but the 1st team lost 0-4 in the 1st Rd and my second team actually is still competing (I finished 1st in my Division so I got a bye).

Pretty sure I'll be asking a boatload of questions soon.

Been away for awhile and I have no reason to come back to spend $10 on this.  I never thought I would see both the ODL and 52 without Ash or Felonius and well the name list goes on and on.
I  feel like it is ridiculous to reward these jerks for ignoring the sim.  Relying on "rookies" turned this game in to a farce.

Congrats to the new folks who are doing well here and having fun though.

Also I have to add that when many of us started here, the player database was MUCH different.  I think that changed things a lot.  No LeBron, no Dwight.  No CP3 etc.  In 2004, there were not really that many current players that were desirable.  Now 12-14 are prolly the best seasons ever.

Anyway its  bummer WIS has chosen not to make a good thing great...and instead made it worse.

Some things about the sim engine are better than they used to be.  The shift to advanced stats helped me a lot in finding the site more palatable and realistic.  Gone were the days of building a title team with the likes of Gerald Govan, Mel Hutchins and Ron Boone.

Seems like customer service has always been patchy at best, which I'm guessing is in part a function of running a shoestring operation with a small enough margin that you're not paying for actual professional customer service...just talking (for better and for worse) with a member of the programming staff who may or may not have time for you and may or may not have good communication skills.

But the site staff disappeared down a sink hole years ago.  I think they could still generate a meaningful amount of a goodwill with a handful of discretionary tweaks...things that be very little work for them but of symbolic value to loyal users, like amping up Bill Russell's D rating and allowing some variation in league size.

It's to be expected that owners come and go from the site and from various theme leagues.  Most of the guys who were the reigning big dogs when I arrived years ago are long gone - guys like uvasooner, qistat, tianyi, thehalls.  But I'll admit there is a difference between those who leave because they get bored or decide to finish growing up, and those who quit in exasperation over fundamental complaints that go unanswered.

I am still with you guys in spirit! (because I have a couple football teams)

Most programmers have very poor customer service skills.

A choice of 2 or 3 different league sizes would be a big step forward. How hard would it be to program in variable
league sizes of 16 or 20 or 24?

not hard at all - they already have the logic in place in the baseball sim - just impossible

We've been begging for years. Makes no sense that they'd rather see league after league die, than make 16 or 18 teams an option.

Time for me to point out that there's been a great infusion of newer owners in the NBA game, who are either expanding from other WIS sports or new to WIS altogether.  Overall they're jumping into lots of theme leagues, creating some of their own, and in several cases studying the sim and watching champions and figuring things out nicely.  The new blood has probably kept me involved.

On a related note the fifth season of Joes not Pros recently finished the regular season after a five year hiatus, and I think there are only 4-5 owners (including myself) who were around for the fourth season.
